On the day of the blood donation drive,we sneak up to open doors.

And what do we see?

Dracula Wennie says, “I vvvvant your bloood! Dont worry it wont hurt!”
*evil laughter*

“AHAHAHAHAHAHA! WHAT DO YOU MEAN IT WONT HURT! You have got to be kidding,” Estee says.

“No really. It didnt hurt one bit. I’m a first timer donor and it was rather painless and over in about 20 mintues.”

“Look I even got my cool pink cert that certifies me as a blogger blood donor!
Pssst. Check out the sticker on my shirt sleeve that proudly proclaims me as a first-time donor.”

We all donated! Note: Spot the odd one out.

“Yes I donated too! Check out my pink bandage on my arm. I even get a free cup of milo afterwards to replenish myself!”

Why yes, bloggers who came down that day to donate blood got a goody bag that was packed with highly nourishing Brands Essence of Chicken.

Soon our two lovely hosts step up and introduce…. GAME TIME!

“Has everyone donated? Let’s play some games!

‘You can pick from the tonnes of games we have here! Or we can also play human-sized snakes and ladders!’

Not interested in snakes and ladders? We have ‘other’ stuff you can play with.

Take your pick – Josh524 or Jordan.

AndyStorm: “Ehhhh.. Actually I have a confession to make.”
Friend: “What is it Andy?”

AndyStorm: “If you are bored, you can play me =)”
Friend: “Uhhhhhhhhhhh?

Boss Ming looks on, stressed.

“Sigh. What is wrong with my bloggers?” *shakes head*

“Maybe I should put my cooking skills to good use and become Chef Ming instead! Lai ah lai ah! Makan on me!”

The event was a meaningful, heartwarming and successful one as there were smiles all round. Did you know, that you, one person can save three lives with your one donation? Your blood can be separated into red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets and all three serve different purposes in the human body. So, with just 20 minutes of your time, you have just made a difference to the lives of 3 people who cant thank you enough.

This event was proudly brought to you by…….

Bloodbank @ HSA

and

Nuffnang Singapore!

Domokun and these lovely lady bloggers say,
Thank You!

Last weekend was the first time in 2 months since I joined the ranks of working class adults, that I had to wake up early on a freaking SATURDAY! Naturally, it was not without complaints and ramblings. The company signed us up for First Aid Day at the NVPC which was organised by the Red Cross of course and we had to attend to learn basic first aid and CPR.

Initially, we thought we were in for a really boring day. We literally, dragged our feet to the NVPC and psyched ourselves for a looooooonnnnngg lecture. We’d heard about how there was a “practical” at the end from the seniors who’d attended the course before but nevertheless, we still didnt know what to expect. Turns out when you’re with some of the seniors, things can be really fun. HAHAHA.

During the practical, which started after millions of people went up stage to talk about the importance of First Aid, we learnt how to do a head bandage. Everyone turned out looking like they were sporting some really cool headgear.

Learnt how to pretend to strangle yourself choke and UNchoke people.

Somehow everyone just looks very happy to be choking. Haha. But well, if you do see someone holding onto their necks, you can pretty much be sure that he/she is choking. Just to be sure, always double check by asking, and if the person CANNOT respond to you, then yes, you can be sure that you need to intervene!

And then we learnt how to measure boob circumference…… NOT.

And then came the really interesting part, where we had to do mouth to mouth for CPR! *jeng jeng* Who was the lucky one who’d get to do mouth to mouth with so many people?

Little Annie.

A dummy.

OOPS! Sorry WRONG PICTURE. That’s not Little Annie. That’s our instructor whose name I didnt get. But he was a real good sport even though we were making loads of noise while he was teaching and laughing at each other. Occasionally laughing at him too. HAHA. Dont you think he looks like he’s teaching kungfu in this picture?

We still had time to cam-whore while he’s talking.

Once we got through the theory on how to do CPR, everyone had a go at it. Doing 5 sets of 30 compressions can really be quite tiring!

Panicking! OH NO. Somebody HELP! Dont worry! I know CPR!

Makin’ out with the doll, Annie. LOL. And a huff and PUFF!

The look of concentration was quite evident on everyone’s face.

Using that as an indication, you can be sure that we took some valuable lessons away that day despite a gruelling morning! Haha! First Aid Day wasnt as bad as we thought it would be.

Note: The originally saved draft to this post was deleted because I felt it wasnt my true sentiment of the issue.

It should also be noted, that the post that follows was not meant to come out this way. Strong emotions are my muse, but they can be a little bit overwhelming. Especially when it’s something I particularly feel strongly about, the narration that follows can be like acid to skin. And I apologise if the following entry causes discomfort to any one reading.

You have been forewarned.

I’m majorly pissed at the whole world. NO BODY can make it for DR. People backed out last minute for whatever selfish personal reasons, or work commitments. Hai. Now we have 2 tickets left over and I’m frantically texting everyone in my phone book. Does everyone think Im some phone directory of some sorts? Press 5 on Val if you need people. OH WTF.

I gotta get going. At least I’ll get to see my art class kids again after 2 weeks. And I know they wont give me trouble because they just dont have to capacity to. I wonder if they’re the same kids as last term. YY and FLD are my favourite.

Oh. And BALLS to my friend who said “DO (VOLUNTEER WORK) FOR WHAT?”

Did I forget to mention Im been on a VERY SHORT FUSE recently? Phooey.
One more month to show time. COME TO OUR CARNIVAL!
