Sushi and wasabi go together like honey and bees. So it was inevitable that I thought of food when I was told I was attending Japanese restaurant Mikuni’s relaunch. The next thing I said to myself was, “All right. Maybe I’ll wear a wasabi green colour eyeshadow just in case they dont get the hint.” I was darn hungry and I was going to make sure I was fed at that launch. So, green it was for my face of the day.

Green seems to be the colour of season (for me at least) considering that I had already worn a deeper shade of it during my secondary school’s 10 year reunion. Instead of pairing it with the gold/yellow like I normally do, I opted for brown because wasabi’s roots are brown (arent they?). It doesnt seem like a very pretty combination when you think about it. Maybe I should have stuck with the Japanese makeup style just because I was going to have me some sashimi, but the final look turned out pretty well!

And when I went to Drink Culture for a friend’s birthday afterwards, I decided to stick to the theme of green and have me a kiwi cocktail. Well, okay, I didnt do it deliberately. I genuinely like kiwi. But it really matches my face of the day make up no? Haha.

It wasnt an easy feat to add the Urban Decay Naked Palette to my stash of eyeshadow palettes. The very popular palette sold out the instant it hit the shelves thanks to the amazing number of beautiful neutral eyeshadows it contained.

But if you’re the kind to use only a certain number of colours for daily wear, you’ll love the Too Faced Neutral Eye Palette. Perfect for a soft, natural sexy look this Natural Eye Palette is modeled after the first Too Faced Classic Smokey Palette. Bundled with three step-by-step instruction cards on how to create the looks you love, this eyeshadow palette is probably the next best alternative to the Urban Decay Naked Palette.

I know I already have the Naked Palette and the Too Faced Natural Eye Palette isn’t new in Sephora Singapore, but I’m currently going through an everything-brown phase so this palette might just be next on my to-buy list although I probably shouldnt. Quick! Somebody, stop me!

First it came in Original and the Eden garden. Next, Urban Decay asked you to join them in Sin. And now, if your deadly sin is Greed, this is for you.

The Urban Decay Primer Potion is by far one of the best make up primers around. Newbies in make up probably wont use make up primers, but I’m starting to think it’s quickly earning a regular spot in my basic make up must haves.

Urban Decay has been very clever with reinventing their make up primers. They’ve introduced 2 previous colours – Eden and Sin, with their Primer Potions and now the third tinted Primer Potion, Greed, is a shimmering gold. The perfect embodiment of the deadly sin its named after.

What I really love about the Urban Decay Primer Potion is its great versatility. Thanks to its tint, you can wear on its own ala cream eyeshadow, or even as a radiant brow bone highlighter. Of course, you’d also use it for its original purpose of giving you more intense eyeshadow colours sans creases.

Already available on Sephora.com, I wonder when this Urban Decay Primer Potion will hit the counters of Sephora Singapore. Ah yes, Greed. Such a perfect adjective for describing my make up desires. But with a colour like that, wouldnt you say my desires are warranted?

I hope you honestly didnt think that I would step into Sephora Singapore on their 1st birthday bash and leave with only ONE eyeshadow palette did you? The Urban Decay Naked Palette is a massively hot seller and I had to pick it up that very day because it was fresh from delivery!

The moment the Urban Decay Naked Palette (SGD 73) hit the shelves of Sephora Singapore, it sold out within a day. When I heard the news, I was devastated. But I absolutely refuse to queue for my make up so I tried to get the coveted palette from the Sephora stores overseas. Sadly, my valiant attempts were met with failure because they too were sold out in the States!

It’s easy to see why the Urban Decay Naked Palette is highly sought after. The rich chocolate brown velvet surface opens up to reveal 12 multifaceted neutral shades that promise to take you from everyday neutral to deep and smouldering. Throw in some summer bronzed looks and you’re all set to rock any sort of situation with this palette. Packed with Urban Decay’s best make up primer, the Urban Decay Primer Potion, and two eyeliners, the Urban Decay Naked Palette is most certainly the best companion for the girl who is comfortable naked.

Happy Birthday Sephora Singapore! Thank you for being one of my absolute favourite make up stores in Singapore. I’m so glad you opened up here in Singapore because you stock absolutely everything that a make up collector junkie like me could ever want.

It was just yesterday, literally, that I made my way down to Sephora Sinagpore get the Urban Decay Book of Shadows Volume 3. It also happened to be their very 1st birthday! I was really lucky I got my hands on one of these amazing palettes because there were loads of people in the store. Sephora Singapore had stocked so many pretty packages all wrapped in bows, perfect for gifts for Christmas and people were shopping themselves silly. But I was only there for one thing.

I now have another eyeshadow palette to add to the obscene number of existing palettes I have in my make up bag. What did I tell you about the Book of Shadows being gorgeous? It was bigger than I expected too!

When I first set eyes on it, I was stunned. My heart skipped a beat and I couldnt believe that the Urban Decay Book of Shadows Volume 3 was within my reach. At the same time, however, I was taken aback by its size. It really is almost the size of a book! But since I missed the Alice in Wonderland Book of Shadows, I didnt want to miss out on this one too. Another reason I HAD to have it was the fact NYC held so many great memories for me when I was there this year.

I cannot help but gush at the lovely pop up that greets you when you first open the eyeshadow palette. If you’ve been to New York, you’ll realise they’ve included all the major landmarks of NYC. This is definitely the perfect memento to take home whether not you’ve been to New York. Central Park, Chrysler Building, Empire State Building, Brooklyn Bridge, Statue of Liberty and the iconic yellow Taxi are conveniently packed into the Urban Decay Book of Shadows Volume 3 for you to take home and fall in love with New York City.

If you arent already enchanted by the City that Never Sleeps, let me tempt you with a travel sized bottle of Urban Decay’s best primer potion. Yes, the very same Urban Decay Primer Potion you see in the eyeshadow palette above.

To win, all you need to do is answer the question below in the comment section with your name and working email and you stand a chance to win the travel sized Urban Decay Primer Potion.

Where can you find the Urban Decay Book of Shadows Volume 3?

Contest closes Friday, 19th November 12 noon and is limited to Singapore addresses only.

I know I said I shouldnt buy more make up. But with this post, I have the freedom to step into Sephora Singapore when the Urban Decay Book of Shadows Volume 3 hits the stores. The Urban Decay Book of Shadows are amazing little things. They always come with two eyeliners and a mini bottle of Urban Decay Primer Potion, one of the industry’s best make up primers.

First, it was the Alice in Wonderland Book of Shadows and now, inspired by the bright lights of New York City, Urban Decay releases Book of Shadows Volume 3.

This set, inspired by the Big Apple, features a pop-up collage of iconic New York City icons such as the Statue of Liberty and the yellow taxi cab. It even lights up to bring the bright lights of the City that Never Sleeps to you! How cool! This reminds me so much of the time I went to New York City and was estatic to see Sephora New York, my beauty mecca. But there’s no need to travel to Sephora New York to get your hands on this gorgeous Urban Decay Book of Shadows Volume 3 because it’s already released right here in Sephora Singapore! Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to head out and get to Sephora Singapore before it sells out.

I love looking at new beauty products. I also, at the same time, hate looking at them because whenever a new makeup product is launched, I can hear my wallet groan in pain. If you’ve been following me closely, you’ll realise Urban Decay is one of my favourite brands. Behind all their products’ funky bold packaging lies quality pigments, and it’s no exception for this new limited Urban Decay Vegan Palette.

According to Sephora.com, this limited-edition Urban Decay palette is printed with soy-based inks on recycled packaging. This means environmentally friendly! And if you think being eco-friendly is boring, you’re wrong. The colours in this Vegan palette include a funky bright teal, an icy-toned money green, and highly wearable neutrals on top of a mini Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Sin and 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Zero.

I know I said I busted my budget this month on makeup already but surely, me being Miss Earth Singapore means I can have this vegan palette to my name right? It doesnt help that the cover is illustrated with animals of all sorts too. I wonder if they included a picture of hamsters.

It’s been about 2 weeks since I last came back from New York and I think I just almost finished packing all my loot. I’m honestly surprised I didnt buy out the entire Sephora store when I was there, but I did pick up some pretty good buys when I was there. One of them was the limited edition Sephora Best in Bronze Deluxe Sampler worth USD113 that was going for USD39!

This set contains 10 of Sephora’s favorite bronzers and luminizers that “creates believable, sunkissed color, year-round”. Perfect for a setting where it’s summer all the time dont you think? And what could be more perfect than getting a sample of each one of these 10 gems in precious mini bottles?

From left to right:
* 0.39 oz Korres Monoi Oil Bronzing Powder in Sunglow Light
* 0.16 oz SEPHORA COLLECTION Nail Polish in Bright Red
* 0.08 oz Too Faced Pink Leopard Bronzing Powder
* 0.04 oz LORAC Tantalizer Baked Bronzer in Golden Bronze
* 0.17 oz Josie Maran Bronzing Argan Oil
* 0.2 oz Smashbox Artificial Light Illuminating Lotion in Glow
* 0.02 oz Bare Escentuals bareMinerals All Over Face Color in Faux Tan
* 0.09 oz Tarte EmphasEYES Waterproof Clay Shadow Liner in Bronze
* 0.09 oz Benefit High Beam
* 0.08 oz TEMPTU RETOUCH Highlighter in Gold

I probably wont be able to finish using them all this year, but they wont ever run out style here in Singapore! Heehee.

My OTHER loot comes in the form of individual items that I picked up off the shelves. I like to have a little bit of this and a little bit of that. But when I took this picture, I realised most of the items were from Urban Decay.

From left to right:
* NARS Super Orgasm Blush
* Urban Decay Stardust Eyeshadow in Moon Spoon
* Urban Decay Urban Defense Tinted Moisturiser SPF 20
* Benefit Concealer Brush
* Urban Decay Ink for Eyes Cream Eyeliner in Demolition

I just adore the funky packaging from Urban Decay, especially the Ink for Eyes Cream Eyeliner. Definitely cant wait to try it out! In fact, I also cant wait to compare the difference between the NARS Super Orgasm and the NARS Orgasm blush. Anyone tried them both before? Which one do you prefer?

You must already know that Singapore has its very own Sephora. Two in fact. But I’ve always lamented on the lack of cool brands they carry. After just spending two days in the beauty department of various department stores and in Sephora right here in New York itself, I realise I get <strike>turned on</strike> excited by brands such as Urban Decay, Smashbox, NARS, DuWop and Buxom. Being such a beauty junkie, Sephora was naturally the first store I wanted to visit.

The very first Sephora I stepped into here in New York was located near the financial district Wall Street. I saw the store, squealed my head off and rushed to take a photo from across the road. Going inside was like dying and going to beauty heaven. It wasnt one of the largest Sephoras, but it still held all the coveted brands we dont get back in Singapore. It was where all the cool brands were and at that point, the long flight we had to sit through was well worth it.

The shop was rather crowded compared to the deserted streets outside. I walked inside and had to keep my grabby little hands to myself. It wouldnt be wise of me to spend my entire budget on makeup stuff on my very first day in the City now would it? I thus had to distract myself by getting trigger happy.

Here are some of the brands that we dont have back home.

They, of course, stock some of the same brands we have here in our Sephora, but carry a much wider range of products. I havent done any serious damage in Sephora as yet. But I did get myself Super Orgasm from NARS to see how different it is from its sister blush Orgasm. I foresee many more ventures into Sephora these coming few days. Haha. In fact, there’s another one along 5th Avenue near Empire State Building.

Sephora is located in many places in New York City, but the ones I’ve been to are at:
150 Broadway
New York, NY 10038-4381
Monday – Friday: 8 am – 8 pm
Saturday: 11 am – 7 pm
Sunday: 12 pm – 6 pm

597 5th Avenue
New York, NY 10017
On 5th Avenue, between East 48th & 49th Streets
Monday – Saturday: 10 am – 8 pm
Sunday: 11 am – 7 pm
