FOTD Make Up

FOTD Wasabi Green

Mikuni Sashimi

Sushi and wasabi go together like honey and bees. So it was inevitable that I thought of food when I was told I was attending Japanese restaurant Mikuni’s relaunch. The next thing I said to myself was, “All right. Maybe I’ll wear a wasabi green colour eyeshadow just in case they dont get the hint.” I was darn hungry and I was going to make sure I was fed at that launch. So, green it was for my face of the day.

Green seems to be the colour of season (for me at least) considering that I had already worn a deeper shade of it during my secondary school’s 10 year reunion. Instead of pairing it with the gold/yellow like I normally do, I opted for brown because wasabi’s roots are brown (arent they?). It doesnt seem like a very pretty combination when you think about it. Maybe I should have stuck with the Japanese makeup style just because I was going to have me some sashimi, but the final look turned out pretty well!

And when I went to Drink Culture for a friend’s birthday afterwards, I decided to stick to the theme of green and have me a kiwi cocktail. Well, okay, I didnt do it deliberately. I genuinely like kiwi. But it really matches my face of the day make up no? Haha.

Face of the Day - Smells Like Teen Spirit

10 years ago, walking out those gates, I was a bespectacled teenager with absolutely no inkling of makeup whatsoever. 10 years later, I walk back into the very same hall I collected my ‘O’ Level results, a different person. So different not just in terms of make up, but with a different swagga all together. I was remembered by my teachers as a “quiet, reserved girl”.

Face of the Day Makeup

Because my school colours are green and yellow, in honour of the 10th year reunion, I was all decked out in the colours of my alma mater. A sparkling combination, I must say.

Urban Decay 15th Anniversary

Urban Decay, the beauty brand with an edge, is celebrating its 15th year anniversary this year! Other than already having a whole host of amazing products under its belt including the Urban Decay Naked Palette, Urban Decay Book of Shadows Volume 3 and holding the title for being the brand with one of the best make up primers around, the Urban Decay Primer Potion, my favourite make up brand is taking things one step further on their 15th birthday.

They’ve launched a limited edition collectable set of fifteen full-sized 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils with six brand-new never seen before shades and a sharpener to always keep your pencils on point! I’ve tried the Glide-On Eye Pencils previously and I adore the smoothness of the pencil. They dont call it the Glide-On Eye Pencil for nothing. It truly lives up to its name – just glide your pencil across your eyelid for instantly lined eyes.

I’ve seen the liners in Sephora Singapore. But as much as I love Urban Decay, I’m not too sure about the practicality of owning 15 eye liners in various colours unless you do stage make up on a regular basis. Give me the browns, blacks and whites anytime.

Are you a fan of Urban Decay? Would you buy this limited edition Urban Decay Glide-On Eye Pencil set?

First it came in Original and the Eden garden. Next, Urban Decay asked you to join them in Sin. And now, if your deadly sin is Greed, this is for you.

Urban Decay Primer Potion Greed

The Urban Decay Primer Potion is by far one of the best make up primers around. Newbies in make up probably wont use make up primers, but I’m starting to think it’s quickly earning a regular spot in my basic make up must haves.

Urban Decay has been very clever with reinventing their make up primers. They’ve introduced 2 previous colours – Eden and Sin, with their Primer Potions and now the third tinted Primer Potion, Greed, is a shimmering gold. The perfect embodiment of the deadly sin its named after.

What I really love about the Urban Decay Primer Potion is its great versatility. Thanks to its tint, you can wear on its own ala cream eyeshadow, or even as a radiant brow bone highlighter. Of course, you’d also use it for its original purpose of giving you more intense eyeshadow colours sans creases.

Already available on Sephora.com, I wonder when this Urban Decay Primer Potion will hit the counters of Sephora Singapore. Ah yes, Greed. Such a perfect adjective for describing my make up desires. But with a colour like that, wouldnt you say my desires are warranted?

I hope you honestly didnt think that I would step into Sephora Singapore on their 1st birthday bash and leave with only ONE eyeshadow palette did you? The Urban Decay Naked Palette is a massively hot seller and I had to pick it up that very day because it was fresh from delivery!

Urban Decay Naked Palette

The moment the Urban Decay Naked Palette (SGD 73) hit the shelves of Sephora Singapore, it sold out within a day. When I heard the news, I was devastated. But I absolutely refuse to queue for my make up so I tried to get the coveted palette from the Sephora stores overseas. Sadly, my valiant attempts were met with failure because they too were sold out in the States!

Urban Decay Singapore Naked Palette

It’s easy to see why the Urban Decay Naked Palette is highly sought after. The rich chocolate brown velvet surface opens up to reveal 12 multifaceted neutral shades that promise to take you from everyday neutral to deep and smouldering. Throw in some summer bronzed looks and you’re all set to rock any sort of situation with this palette. Packed with Urban Decay’s best make up primer, the Urban Decay Primer Potion, and two eyeliners, the Urban Decay Naked Palette is most certainly the best companion for the girl who is comfortable naked. ;)

I know I say this almost every beginning of the month, but I think I already busted my make up budget. I just bought myself the MAC a Tartan Tale eyeshadow palette and eye kit. But for your sake, I hope you havent busted yours because Sephora Singapore is having a massive sale right now. Yes, I had to stop hyperventilating when I heard the news to write this post for you.

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: I love Sephora for housing all my favourite brands under one roof. It is but one of the playgrounds of any make up junkie. You’ll find all the basic make up must haves there in a variety of packaging from all the different make up brands. Pick from Pop Beauty, Urban Decay, Smashbox, Make Up Forever, MAC, Burt’s Bees, Benefit, Hourglass, Bare Minerals, Too Faced, Pop Beauty, Milk, Bliss among a whole host of others.

There are three Sephora Singapore outlets (Ngee Ann City, Great World City and ION Orchard), but thanks to the Sephora Singapore sale you dont have to travel to all three different locations to get what you want. The sale happening this long weekend is the perfect place to grab everything you need from these amazing cosmetic brands.

Where? Suntec City Convention Hall Level 3, Room 301 and 302
When? 4th November (12 – 8pm), 5th and 6th November (11am – 8pm)
What? SHOPPING!

It’s the long weekend this week, so what are you waiting for? Grab your girls and head on down to the Sephora Singapore Suntec sale now and stock up for the new year! Hahaha. I always say, a girl can never have too many make up and beauty products. ;)
