Everyone’s gorgeous on Coronation Night. The lights, makeup and hair do well to enhance each girl’s assets.

What, however, makes a lady truly a queen is not how much hair spray she uses or how much makeup she has. Sure they do well to assist the overall presentation of oneself, but it’s really about the charisma, poise and most importantly, attitude of a person that makes her a true beauty queen.

On Coronation Night, we were backstage since the afternoon for lunch. Then came a quick run-through before the REAL preparations started. We didnt get to take many pictures backstage during the preparation. Okay, rather I didnt take many pictures backstage because we were all so bored of waiting. We had so much time to do our makeup that we took our time dolling ourselves up while we drank tea and munched on some energy and chocolate bars Sarah Miss Scotland’s mum brought.

When we first saw the stage Wednesday night, we were underwhelmed. We had kinda expected the stage and venue to be a lot bigger. But with the lights and camera angles, it was amazing how fantastic the stage looked on Coronation day.

Without the lights and sound, here’s what the stage looked like.

We had our very first rehearsal on Wednesday night, the day we landed in Boracay itself. Pictures of rehearsals from Wednesday night.

We learnt the opening dance in one single night and the individual group choreography that very same night. These were to be used for the opening video sequences to be shot the next day. We’d heard beforehand that the lady choreographer was a force not to be reckoned with. And when we first met her lotsa girls were quite intimidated especially when it came to learning the dance. They didnt want to screw up the dance, get told off and make 79 other girls wait for them. Truth be told, Ive met worse choreographers who yell and tell you off till you wanna cry. For instance, I remember hearing one story about how this famed choreographer here in Singapore said to his dancers they look “like vomit” during one of their practices. LOL.

But anyway, you have to give credit to her because she really knows her stuff and we all agree wholeheartedly that the final presentation of the girls during Coronation looked fantastic thanks to her.

During our break on rehearsal day, we had some time to goof off and make silly faces. Haha.

With Sandra Miss Philippines who’s also Miss Earth Air 2009! YAYYYYY! Congrats my babe!

Rujinan Miss Thailand who made Top 8! Asian poweerrrrr!

We only had one more rehearsal Saturday night before actually going on stage on Sunday. That night we learnt the different choreographies for the swimsuit, evening gown and Top 16. Pictures backstage on Coronation.

Minor drama that happened backstage. Haha. Hair getting caught in earrings. Magalie Miss France helps to untangle my hair from Adie’s earrings.

After that episode, I finally get a picture with Adie our chaperon and Miss Philippines 2009 1st Runner up!

Cuba showin’ off her awesome booty. And lucky me gets to spank it. HAHAHAHA.

Pictures from on stage. Credits to G.Aplal for the stunning photos.

This, boys, is what your dreams should truly be made of. 80 girls all in swimsuits. HAHAHA.

India. Martinique. Georgia. Singapore. Just 4 of the Top 16 in swimsuit. Love the green swimsuit specially designed by Ricky Abad.

The other semi-finalists.

Paraguay.

Venezuela.

France.

Philippines.

South Africa.

Baby of the group – Northern Ireland.

Thailand.

Brazil.

Korea.

Poland.

After crowning, with Larissa Miss Brazil.

I really didnt get much time to take pictures in between changing from the yellow bikini to the green one. And then there was the dash to get dressed for the evening gown segment. Phew. In between drinking water and making sure every single strand of hair was in place, it was a crazy rush, but I loved every. single. minute. of. it.

If my memory serves me well, Maquillage always has the prettiest girls hawking their products. The ethnicity of the girls in their campaigns are questionable. But I’ll put my dollar on the fact that they’re Japanese who have mastered the art of disguise.

Now they’ve teamed up with Alexander Wang to create a new line that includes nude eye palettes and lipsticks.

Alexander Wang is an award-winning young New York based fashion designer applauded around the world for his real clothes and non-pretentious style. Non-pretentious is the key word here. I like non-pretentious. The Eyes Creator 3D palettes look particularly appealing owing to its natural colours; colours you would live in. In this collaboration with Maquillage, he has incorporated his sophisticated yet simple style into an exciting range of makeup colours and packages also including nude lippies.

I didnt get the lippies, cause they didnt have the colour I want, but got my hands on the BR364 Eyes Creator and the colours are gorgeous!

The palette comes with 4 everyday wear colours and a glittery brown creme liner. It is your one-stop eye makeover palette for daily wear.

Dont you just love how the colours are classic yet stunning against the skin? Like Alexander Wang’s simple, sophisticated and real style, I probably will be living in this for the next one month when I’m in the Philippines.

I’m impressed.

Everyone loves good service. But that was not what I expected when I got my Gmask done at Plaza Singapura. They offered a 1 month warranty after masking covering defects including workmanship and I thought I’d go back and get my mask done again because the prints had somehow faded even though I put my Berry back in its case after I got the mask done. In my mind, it probably was something she didnt do that caused it to fade because I’m careful when it comes to my gadgets.

I mean, I’d used the magic Berry case EVEN after masking. Double protection yknow. Wanted to protect both the mask and the phone.

However, I was sorely disappointed when I went back there. After explaining my situation to the girl at the counter, the salesgirl said that the fading of the print was due to the fact that MY BERRY PLUS THE INSIDE OF THE CASE WAS DIRTY! Hello a 2-month old Berry is not DIRTY. It’s not like I use it while bathing in mud either. I obviously wasnt pleased with her “reason” of my Berry being dirty.

I’d paid good money for this. But sadly, it didnt deliver and live up to my expectations. But hey, since I’d already covered up the original backing (albeit with a high price), I might as well zhng it the way I want it right? Turn the BlackBerry into a BlingBerry without ruining the original cover.

Rummaging through my DIY box, picking up scraps and a couple of hours later, my Berry is now a chio BlingBerry.

But as Murphy would have it, happy with my BlingBerry now, the owners of Gmask themselves actually contacted me via email and offered to remask my berry for me at the original boutiques in either Junction 8 and Suntec!

I’d first said thank you and turned down his kind offer since I’d already covered the mask with my own handicraft. But it was his persistence and strong belief in his own product that impressed me. He honestly didnt have to contact me; he didnt have to offer an explanation that included shouldering the blame and explainiing thoroughly the masking process because the branch I went to at Plaza Singapura was only a franchise and not directly managed by the owners themselves. They dont have direct control over the staff working there.

Despite that, he humbly apologised on behalf of the girl although it was not his responsibility to. It was his sincerity and faith that impressed me. The fact he was able to eat humble pie, unlike so many we usually encounter, is what I called putting service above self. One is able to see that he truly believes in what he’s selling. He even asked for suggestions and feedback with regards on how they could improve. And for someone like me who’s worked in service, I’d never sell anything that I dont personally use or believe in.

So now, my question is what do I bring down for them to remask? My iPod Touch is already blinged up as is my Berry Bold. Maybe I might just get my camera done. Hrm…

OHAY!

I’m back. I know I said I’d update with tonnes of pictures of the Coronation Night and you probably were eagerly waiting for it. I apologise if it caused you any mental distress when there was no update over the weekend.

But it was the F1 weekend hey? Hope you were busy out doing some exciting stuff. Hamilton won it again didnt he? Okay, not again cause the last time they were here Alsono took the cup. Although Renault is now being investigated for race rigging what with the crash that happened before that. But, anyway, yknow what I mean.

I’ve just been hanging out with my bb girls and we did touristy and not so touristy stuff because we had a guest come into Singapore over the weekend. Eating curry fish head at Samy’s and trying out chilli crab at Jumbo seafood is sorta like your regular but not so regular Singaporean stuff you do when you’re here. Eating of course is a must; sampling the various delights owing to our multi-cultural heritage and mix in this tiny island is a national sport.

What? Is this a mindless rambling post? No it’s not. Didnt you see the title? It’s supposed to be a picture post. WHAT? Why am I talking so much then? All right already, chill dude. I’m just being annoying and prolonging the arrival of the pictures. Enjoying a moment of self-talk and talking to whoever wants to listen to the constant stream of mindless ramblings that goes on in the grey matter of this head.

So, before that throbbing vein in your temple bursts, here are the pictures.

It was nerve-wrecking, tough yet exhilarating.

The opening segment in our cocktail dresses was followed quickly by our Junk to Funk redesigned outfit. BAM! Without time to breathe, the Stale to Style formal wear was next. Bikinis 1 and 2 zoomed by and then it was the evening gown segment.

Here Singapore is your top 8.

Ashley. Valerie. Suet. Stella. Michelle. Amira. Cindy. Deborah.

Mira and I were left at in the final 2 spots. Guess who won?

Your Top 4!

The biggest crown, I HAS IT!

At the same time, I also received the Miss Friendship (ie. Personality) award which was voted for by the girls themselves. I am truly honoured that I was voted Most Friendly by them because I was rooting for Cindy to get it.

Thank you everybody who voted for me and who showered me with your love and support! Just three pictures for now because I have tonnes to photoshop. Update more in time to come.

In the meantime, HELLO LONG WEEKEND!!

The madness!

Twas a small room stuffed with 13 girls, each armed with 3 outfits. Wouldnt you like to be stuck in the room with us girls in bikinis. Haha. It was nothing but a mad rush, very unlike the times I’d stroll backstage in UCC and change in the very large changing rooms. It was so big that each dancer would almost be able to have their own mirror. HAHA!

But because the timing here was so tight, we didnt get to cam-whore much in between outfits. Had to rely on Michie love for some backstage shots.

Super love this photo of us! Hahahahaha! As you can see we tried to squeeze in whatever opportunity to cam-whore. Love you babe!

1 week to Coronation at Bellini Grande! Keep voting guys!
