Bare Escentuals Bare MInerals Faux and Foxy Collection

I loved a bronzed beach babe. With summer around the corner, get a foxy sunkissed look instantly without causing actual sun-damage to your skin. The Bare Escentuals Bare Minerals Faux and Foxy collection is a 3-piece set that will get you glowing all the way to the beach.

Get a tan with sun protection by buffing on the All-over Face Color SPF 15 in Faux Tan with the portable Buff and Go™ Brush. But dont forget to also protect your perfect pout with the 100% Natural Lipgloss with SPF 15 in French Toast. Once you’re all set with your beach face of the day, hit the waters in your itsy bitsy yellow polka dot biniki and make a splash!

I seem to have come full circle and reignited the obsession with mineral make up. (I blame it on Rachel K’s mineral make up really.) But when I first got into mineral make up it was its paraben-free, sulfate-free, lack of synthetic fragrances, synthetic dyes formulated and a whole bunch of other harsh chemicals that got me hooked.

But nevertheless, Bare Escentuals Faux and Foxy collection is ready to get you glowing!

If there’s one thing I love and hate about seasonal holiday periods it’s definitely the gorgeous collectible make up sets that are pushed out to tug at your heart strings. After the Urban Decay Book of Shadows Volume 3, I can safely say I have enough eyeshadows palettes to last me the whole of next year.

So although I might not be buying any more eyeshadows (I reckon one month of abstinence should be a good start), I can still tempt you to buy some right? Heehee.

Because it’s December and the end of the year is coming, bring out your party clothes and most glamourous make up because it’s time to make merry. The bareMinerals Shimmer & Shine Collection seems well stocked for that. It’s a 10 collection packed with paraben-free, sulphate-free mineral make up that will set you glowing in the most brilliant shades.

What’s inside:
- 4 x 0.01 oz Eyecolor in Shimmer (frosted cappuccino), Flicker (burnished violet), High Shine Gold Medal (pale gold), and High Shine Vapor (graphite)
- 0.012oz Big & Bright Eyeliner in Intense Black
- 0.02 Clear Radiance All-Over Face Color (sheer translucent glow)
- 0.02 oz Pink Petal Blush (bright poppy pink)
- 0.14 oz 100% Natural Lipgloss in With a Twist (tulip pink)
- 0.14 oz 100% Natural Lipgloss in Sprinkles (diamond shimmer)
- Full Tapered Blush & Eye Brush
- Booklet featuring instructions for Shimmer and Shine looks

Happy Easter guys! In the spirit of all things colourful and yummy, this is a face of the day inspired by all the delish Easter eggs! I also have to thank Violet Le Beaux for sending me the adorable crochet heart shaped ring. Her rings (she gave me 3 but I only photographed 1) were so cute that I decided to do a look that would match them: a pink kawaii look that hopefully she’d be proud of. Haha. I was going for a sweet dolly eyed effect and thus used a whole bunch of pink coloured products for this look.

She made the rings specially for me and sent them all the way from Down Under, Australia! Who would have thought that you could meet such awesome people thru blogging. <3 If you're interested, she's selling the cute rings on her blog.

Anyway here’s the breakdown for this Candy Coloured Easter face of the day:

Face
M.A.C Studio Fix foundation
NARS Orgasm blush (review HERE)
M.A.C Accentuate Sculpt sculpt and shape powder

Eyes
M.A.C Paint Pot in Rubenesque
Silk Mineral mineral eyeshadow in Coral Sparks
Majolica Majorca eyeshadow in GR750
Kate Gel Eyeliner in Black
Benefit Bad Gal Lash mascara

Winners for this contest are Joie, Ivy & Xin Hui. Congratulations babes!

With the long weekend approaching and a time to celebrate our Nation’s 44th Birthday, it’s time to get creative with your eye-makeup! If you’re going to the National Day Parade like why not take pride in our national colour and jazz up your eye-makeup with a tinge of red.

I shall be patriotic this weekend and in the process show you 2 looks with red undertones using a bunch of mineral eyeshadows from Silk Mineral.

Look 1 – The Copper Sun

Step 1 – Using Pearl White, highlight the middle of your eyeball; the part that protrudes the most.

Step 2 – The key colour for this look is Pink Copper – a copper (reddish/brown) eyeshadow that has very slight pink undertones. Colour the inner and outer corners of your eye up to your eye socket.

Step 3 – With a soft fluffy brush, blend OUTWARDS into the Pink Copper starting from the white. This helps to soften the copper colour and melts both colours into each other.

As you can see in the second picture, when your eyes are opened, the colours fade into one another smoothly without any obvious line.

Step 4 – With your favourite eyeliner (I used Kate Gel Eyeliner in Black here), line your eyes, curl your lashes and stick on flirty falsies to finish off the look!

If on the other hand, you decide to have a girly night or a romantic dinner after the National Day Parade, smokey eyes might be the order of the day. This time however, I’ll use a soft pink to give a sweet yet sexy appeal to your usual smokey eyes.

Look 2 – The Sweet Siren

Step 1Coral Sparks covers half your lids starting all the way from the inner corner of your eye.

Step 2 – You can opt to use black on the outer corners of your eye, but in this case, I chose a shimmery grey from ZA 10 carat eyeshadow palette and brushed it on the outer corners of the eyes, also sweeping a little just under the eyebrows and the inner corners.

Step 3 – Blend blend blend! Blend the grey color over Coral Sparks with a windscreen wiper motion to smoothen the colours out.

Step 4 – For added effect, line your bottom eyelid with the same grey till halfway.

Step 5 – Finally, line your upper eyelids and stick on a pair of dramatic eyelashes for that va-va-voom effect!

Viola!

Now you’re all set to attend a parade and party the night away!

To recreate the above looks, Im giving away 3 eyeshadows sponsored kindly by Silk Mineral. 2 are the exact same ones I used in the tutorials!

I have Coral Sparks, Pink Copper and Cotton Candy (an orangey pink which you can use for both day and night in both looks) to give out and all you have to do is answer the following question:

Mineral makeup from Silk Mineral has no Talc, no Boron Nitrate and no Bismuth Oxychloride. True or false?

Leave your answer with your name and working email in the comments section and the FOURTH, EIGHTH & NINTH commenters will stand a chance to win one of these three beautiful colours!

Deadline for qualifying comments is Saturday 8th August 2359hr.

All comments will be screened.

I am a sucker when it comes to smokey eyes. Although my daily makeup routine is pretty fuss-free and consists primarily of light makeup, I do like to indulge and go a leeeeetle over the top when it comes to events and partying. It was thus hard to resist the Too Faced Smokey Eye Palette when it was dangled in front of me with a discounted price of $49.

I’ll tell you what happened.

I walked into Sephora hoping just to chill and look at the pretty colours that deck the shelves of the various makeup brands one fine and dandy day; I had no intention of shopping for anything. And then, I realised that Pop Beauty was having a 50% off their eyeshadow wallets. Okay… Breathe, I said to my already excited little heart. Let’s go see if they’re worth checking out.

Lo and behold, they were p r e t t y awesome.

For a 24 colour eyeshadow wallet (they’re called wallets cause they’re flat and long and well, duh, like real wallets) whose original price was $65, $32.50 was a pretty good price for that number of eyeshadows. And convenience came in the form of the wallet which had everything – eyeshadows, blushes and lipsticks sans foundation. Imagine going out in the day without makeup and having a last minute meeting scheduled for the afternoon. What do you whip out? Your makeup wallet of course. Just slap on some lipstick, blush and maybe some eyeshadow if you have time. Sounds really inviting to a lazy bugger like me.

“Okay, let’s think about it”, I told myself. Afterall I really had no intention of buying anything and wasnt going to go on a spur of the moment shopping spree. Whilst walking around and browsing the pink shelves of the Too Faced counter, the salesgirl approached and whipped this out.

HOLY COW!

Smokey eyes in a beautiful black and purple packaging! And check out the gothic font.

It was hard to resist. I can feel my inner goth rock chick slowly creeping out.

So I succumbed. I bought it.

There were three different types of smokey eye colours (9 colours in total) in the palette: day smoke, classic smoke and classic smoke. Perfect for use in all different occasions.

Had my brother’s 21st dinner party last night and I decided to break out the palette. So here’s my face of the day with the Classic Smoke from the palette.

Isnt it gorgeous!?

The colours really stand out on camera and is soooo pigmented.

Everyday Minerals mineral foundation in Olive Golden Medium (my holy grail!)
Benefit Dandelion blush
