Christmas is coming and I had the great honour of getting a preview of the pretty MAC Glitter and Ice Collection early last month. The best part was learning how to create a MAC Disco Tech Look with MAC Senior Artist Beno Lim using the Glitter and Ice collection. A big thank you to TANGS Singapore and MAC for the awesome makeup tutorial!

When you look at this brand new MAC makeup collection, it will send shivers down your spine. In a good way of course. It is silvery, glittery, pretty, wintry, icy… everything relating to a white Christmas! I am thoroughly enchanted by the moving swirly bits on the Ice Parade Snowglobe eyeshadow palettes. It’s just like someone took them ice crystals and put them in a snow globe for you. Now, you have a portable snow globe in your purse.

MAC Glitter and Ice 2011 Collection Lineup

The new MAC Glitter and Ice Collection is unlike the usual MAC makeup because for one, it’s white! I love everything white because it gives you such a clean feeling. Gimme gimme gimme. As with all their Christmas collections, the Glitter and Ice collection is no different. They launch the entire works for the holiday season including lipsticks, Dazzleglass, Technakohl Liner, Mineralize Eye Shadow, Paint Pots, Beauty Powder, nail polishes and falsies in the lineup.

If you liked the makeup video using the MAC Glitter and Ice Collection, here’s a closer look at the collection itself. Pay close attention to the makeup swatches because you could just win $150 worth of MAC products to glam up your Christmas look!

With the beginning of a new month, I can safely tell you that beginnings are just as difficult as endings. A beginning always holds uncertainty; a beginning is always full of pebbles along the way; a beginning is always where you start mucking about before you finally find what works for you. As much as you always plan for something, the unexpected never fails to happen and it’s these unexpected surprises that you have to deal with that make a simple beginning challenging yet so very exciting.

It is with the beginning of dweam.com as a Singapore Beauty Blog that I say goodbye to my previous direction. It is today I welcome a new beauty direction in my blog.

I’ve always toyed with the idea of starting a full fledged beauty blog. I can tell you it was difficult to do so. The beginning is always tough. I never thought that I was qualified to do so despite spending all my years in University on stage dancing; never thought that all the time I spent in front of the camera and on the runway was enough for me to tell anyone how to do their makeup. In fact, why would they listen to an ugly duckling like me?

Can you guess which one is me? Hahaha. Fresh faced into Uni. Taken when I was in Year 1 in 2004.

But maybe it was really when I finally ventured into the pageantry circuit and had to “fend for myself” that I finally got the courage to start. Afterall it was then that I had the most “drastic” changes in terms of how I looked. Hahaha. No, it was not plastic, but merely a refining of the basic techniques I already had. With this experience in dance, modeling and pageantry, yes, I’ve decided to give myself the go ahead. That’s not to say, up to this point, my beauty tutorials, makeup reviews and DIYs come from professional backgrounds. They are simply genuine reflections of what I do, use, experience and feel for the products on a regular basis.

Fast forward 4 years later, 2008.

However, beauty, to me, is not merely about who has the biggest eyes, the fullest lips, using the best makeup or having the most extensive number of products. I have to say that coming from a Psychology background (oh yes, I’m trained in Psychology. Let me read your mind now) that beauty to me is really just a mental state. I fully believe that we can and all should dream of the beautiful to be truly outstanding. My one month in the Philippines representing Singapore as Miss Earth also taught me that exact same thing. It wasn’t the girl who had the flashiest clothes, biggest eyes or the best hair that eventually won the crown. It was the girl who could compose herself well in times of duress that finally got crowned Queen. It was her who could smile despite not having things go her way. It was her who was a friend to all. Despite landing only Top 16, I have to admit, I learnt a lot during that trip to last me a lifetime.

Being beautiful is an art, but more importantly, being beautiful is a holistic development. As I share with you what makes me beautiful outside and in through my DIYs, reviews, tutorials, outfit posts, the not-so-newly conceived SneakerSunday and the occasional lifestyle posts, I hope new readers and potential followers will take my hand (albeit a virtual one) and join me in my beauty journey. For those who have been following me for a long time, I thank you for your unfailing support. There are so many people I have to thank, because without them dweam.com would not be where it is now. But, I will leave that for another day.

As an ending note, my dream for this blog is to inspire you, my reader, to become more beautiful inside and out as you explore uncharted territories with me, in this new chapter of dweam.

Remember the M.A.C Viva Glam From Our Lips collection featuring Cyndi Lauper and Lady Gaga I previously wrote about? Well good news Gaga fans, THE COLLECTION IS FINALLY HERE IN SINGAPORE. Hallelujah!

I will be honest with you. I actually first saw the posters in stores when I was in Mall of Asia on the only day I got to go shopping in the Philippines. My main objective during that trip was to bring back as many beauty products that couldn’t be found in Singapore. So when I saw the From Our Lips collection out at one of the departmental stores, I skipped right in prepared to fork out some good money for the lippies just in case they weren’t out in Singapore yet. But when I went in there, as you might have already expected, Viva Glam Gaga was sold out.

See the lonesome Viva Glam Cyndi lipstick sitting alone

I picked up the lonesome Cyndi lipstick and thought about giving it a good home. Red lippies aren’t exactly my thing, but I have been thinking of getting one just to play around with colours.

The colour wasn’t too intense as I thought it would have been. In fact, it had slight orange undertone that would sit pretty well on Asian skin. I toyed with the idea of getting it, but eventually, I decided I really wanted a pink lipstick more than a red one. Okay okay, I really just wanted the lipstick to be the Lady Gaga one. Who isn’t a Lady Gaga fan? She’s an icon of so many fashion and beauty trends of late. Anyone would kill to own a piece of her, which probably explains why the Gaga lipstick was sold out.

So imagine my joy when I walked into the newly opened M.A.C store in Raffles City to find the Viva Glam Gaga sitting pretty in the display. With shining eyes, I grabbed it and quickly asked the salesgirl if it was available. To my dismay, it was sold out too here in Singapore.

The closest I could get to the coveted Viva Glam Gaga one was the tester. Comparing the two colours side by side, I actually do prefer Viva Glam Cyndi to Viva Glam Gaga. The latter is a light blue pink while the former is a light reddish coral. With coral/orange undertones, Viva Glam Cyndi is better suited for warmer Asian skin tones while the cool blue undertones of the Gaga-licious pink lipstick would certainly pop on fairer skin.

If you’re dying to get your hands on the Gaga-licious lipstick, the good news is, the new batch for Viva Glam Gaga is coming in 7th May, today! The girl at the Raffles City MAC store told me when I asked and I thought I’d share it with you because Thank God It’s Friday. It’s time to Just Dance!

Which lippie catches your fancy? Remember every cent raised through the purchase of VIVA GLAM lipsticks goes to the M·A·C AIDS Fund to support the fight against HIV/AIDS. So maybe we should just get both! :P
