I have blogged a fair bit about Kiehl’s products and there is a good reason why I do so. Aside from the effective products they carry, Kiehl’s company philosophy believes in doing good for the community and I am a firm believer in giving back to society.
Did you know that Kiehl’s creates opportunities for economically disadvantaged workers and fosters a work environment that is healthy and safe? To them it is important to pay a fair price for the raw materials sourced in the community and they assure that their suppliers do the same. Kiehl’s always ensures the materials and processes used in the production of their products worldwide do not damage the environment and that what is used is replaced, recycled, or restored. Go green!
So it is no surprise that Kiehl’s Singapore has teamed up with ELLE Singapore in a recent charity effort. Together with 4 local celebrities, the two organizations are raising funds for the Autism Association. This isn’t the first time Kiehl’s Singapore has supported Autism Association either. The previous drive had local hottie George Young fronting the campaign and he is back again this time to create awareness for this cause.
What is unique this time is the fact that Kiehl’s has engaged these 4 celebrities with heart, namely radio sweetheart Jean Danker and funny guy Mike Kasem, comedian Michelle Chong and heart throb George Young to design a limited edition cover for one of their best selling products: the Kiehl’s Rare Earth Deep Pore Masque.
I had the chance to preview these covers at the recent press conference and got my Jean Danker/Mike Kasem and George Young covers signed.
But before the signing session, these caring celebrities shared why their reasons for being part of the cause; George shared a moving story about his brother who is affect by autism while Jean and Mike both personally know people who are affected with autism.
In general, autism generally boys more than girls (a ratio of 4 to 1) and this disorder causes social, behavioural and cognitive issues. Meaningless repetitive behaviours and inappropriate interests and obsessions are quite common. Depending on the symptoms presented, the level of functioning can vary and the person affect may or may not require assistance for daily living activities.
How do I know all of this? Well, my story is that I used to work full time as a behaviour therapist with people with autism. Straight from graduation, I spent 3 years working in this particular special needs field.
Supporting and creating awareness for autism is thus a big part of who I am and so I’ll do my part here for the Autism Association by giving away TWO Kiehl’s Rare Earth Deep Pore Masque each (worth ~$50) SPECIALLY AUTOGRAPHED by your favourite stars George Young and the Class 95 Radio DJs Jean and Mike!
Here’s how to take home a piece of your favourite star, get great skin AND do your part for Autism Association.
