I’ve been a long time paying customer of Aster Spring (previously known as Leonard Drake) since my friend introduced me to their services almost more than 2 years back. I’ve never actually written a review on Aster Spring (Leonard Drake) facials save for this one review where I tried out the Advanced Skin Hydrating Treatment after my return from New York in 2010. Now almost 2 years down the road, I come back and head straight for my regular facial again because the cold weather in New York City completely dried my skin out.

Beauty Tips for Good Skin

I’m proud to say I take pretty damn good care of my skin and am absolutely comfortable with leaving the house with nothing but sunscreen on. Going for regular facials is certainly on my list of good skin tips because it’s important to have a professional take a closer look at your skin. Judging by the number of comments I’ve received on the Leonard Drake facial review post, it’s heartening to know that a lot of people are also interested in taking better care of their skin!

Many have left comments or emailed me to ask about the facial packages price and I’ve never been able to fully provide details of the Aster Spring (Leonard Drake) facial package prices because I dont work for them. I thus, decided to do the next best thing on my last visit: whip my phone out and snap a photo of the actual package prices!

Olay Project 360 FInals

More videos for you to watch! Yay! As a finale to the Olay Project 360 web series, the Olay bloggers and contestants were treated to a wonderful night out at the White Rabbit. Armed with a beautiful bouquet of flowers each, we indulged in free massages, finger food and comfortable areas for us girls to gather and chit chat. The atmosphere that night was relaxed and everyone was free to mingle and unwind.

Olay Project 360 Finals

You’ll see in the video that after being put through challenges against one another, it was the night the 8 contestants that you’ve come to know and cozy up to throughout the past few episodes (have you watched them all yet?) got to really sit down and just chill out. Although the results of the 6 week challenge was due to be announced at the end of the night, there was still no tension between all of us! It was friendly, fun and all round girliness.

Then, the results were announced. Did the contestant you voted for win? Watch the snippets of the Olay Pampering Night in the final episode of Olay Project 360! Wish you were there!

Things You Do Before You Sleep

We all have our daily beauty routines and recently I asked on Twitter about your nightly beauty routine. The things you do before you go to sleep is equally or possibly more important than what you do in the morning because your body repairs itself during the precious hours your eyes are shut. Here are some key things in my nightly beauty routine before bed:

Moisturise
Taking care of my basic skin care needs by moisturizing nightly, I’d have to say, ranks as one of the most important things you do before you sleep. Of course, this step should come after you’ve thoroughly removed your make up. Regardless of whether you have oily, dry or combination skin, proper cleansing and moisturizing is a crucial step in getting good skin.

Apply Vaseline
I was only reminded recently of the many uses of Vaseline as a beauty product. There are many things you can do with Vaseline but I use it as a lip moisturizer in particular. Apply a generous amount to your lips before you go to bed and you’ll wake up to softer lips every morning.

Apply Eye Cream
The skin around the eye is one of the thinnest and most delicate areas on our body. Not taking care of that delicate skin will increase the incidence of fine lines under the eyes and make you look tired. Applying eye creams nightly around the area will help keep your peepers looking fresh and awake for longer periods of time. Always use the fourth finger to lightly pat eye cream around the eye area to prevent any excess stress to the delicate eye area.

No water
As much as water is a necessity and essential for survival, drinking water less than 3 hours before you go to bed will only serve to give you puffy eyes and a bloated face the very next morning. Staying away from any food and drink just before you go to sleep is probably wise as your body is winding down and metabolic rate is following suit. If you, however, really must have that drink of water, I recommend a tiny shotglass… goldfish size.

Are these things you do before you go to bed at night? What other important steps are in your night beauty routine?

I feel really honoured when people tell me I have good skin because I sincerely believe that I have a very basic skin care routine. It’s nothing too fancy. Thinking back, I never really knew about proper facial skin care until I started going for facials. But it’s taken me this long to come to the realisation that basic skin care is possibly the most important thing in getting good skin. It is the basic skin care needs that must be taken care of if good skin is to be achieved.

Basic Skin Care Needs

I dont wear make up on a daily basis so I keep a pretty strict skin care routine to maintain clear skin. If you’re a skin nazi like me, I’ve got some basic skin care tips you might want to think about incorporating into your daily facial skin care regimen, if you already have one that is. Otherwise, here’s a guide to a basic skin care routine that both guys and girls alike can use. For good skin, all that’s needed is a simple skin care routine that covers your basic skin care needs.

1) Cleanser

Basic Skin Care Needs - Cleanser

Cleaning your face is the most basic of all steps in your daily facial skin care regimen. Spending a good part of the day outside of the house, the first thing you want to do when you get home is to thoroughly cleanse your face from all that perspiration, dirt and grime. Leaving impurities on your skin surface clogs pores and eventually causes break outs. It’s recommended for thorough cleaning, wash your face in small circular motions.

2) Toner

This cooling alcohol based solution’s primary purpose in your basic skin care routine is to tighten pores and remove any residual dirt that cleansing might have missed out, but you can even use it to remove excess oil from the skin during the day for a refreshing feeling. There is no one specific way how to use and apply facial toner, but it is most commonly used on a cotton pad. Gently sweeping the cotton pad across your face and neck in an upward motion is sufficient to remove trace dirt from your skin. Always remember to avoid the delicate eye area.

3) Moisturizer

Basic Skin Care Needs - Moisturizer

Now this is a tricky yet highly crucial part of any basic skin care routine. Regardless of what skin type you have, moisturizing with the right type of moisturizer will ensure that you get glowing skin. Moisturizers provide important nutrients to maintain the moisture balance and improve skin texture. Whether you have oily skin, combination skin or normal skin, keeping your skin’s moisture content up is key to getting good skin. Here’s some skin care tips on what a good moisturizer should do for your skin: It should 1) rehydrate your skin and lock in moisture 2) not clog pores 3) not cause an allergic reaction to your skin.

4) Sunblock

You probably are already sick of my nagging you about sunblock. I’ve included it as one of the Basic Essential Make Up Must-Haves and also as a beauty necessity when traveling. So there really isnt much for me to say about it except that it’s infinitely good for your skin and prevents pre-mature aging.

So there you go, my guide on how to get good skin; the basic skin care needs that should be addressed in your daily skin care regimen. Other important steps skin nazis like me may want to think about including in their daily routine are using masks and scrubs. Scrubbing helps to rid your skin of dead skin to give you a brighter complexion. Other than that, it also promotes cell regeneration. Applying a clay mask once a week regulates oil production. These steps done weekly help keep your skin in tip top condition.

What’s your basic skin care routine like?
