I’ve never had to bother with fake nails. Being absolutely clumsy it was either I cut them short, grew them out or get gel/acrylic extensions. But if you’re always busy working with your hands, what happens when you need a temporary permanent situation?

Fake nails to the rescue!

I only used them a couple of days before the actual Coronation while other girls sported extensions the whole time. Turns out they’re actually pretty easy to use!

What you need
- a fake nail kit (you can easily purchase them from a local drugstore)

The nail kit usually comes with an emery board, cuticle stick and nail glue. Otherwise, you will need to purchase them separately.

How to
1. Remove any trace of nail polish on your natural nails using cotton balls and nail polish remover. Wash your hands and dry thoroughly.

2. Apply hand-cream and allow it to soak into your skin.

3. Before applying the artificial nails, select the most appropriate sized one by matching the artificial nail to your natural one. The artificial nails should cover your natural nail and not be smaller than your actual nail.

4. Push your cuticle back to expose as much of your natural nail as possible.

5. File your nail surface using the emery board until it is smooth. This allows the glue to spread evenly and provides a better adhesive when you apply the artificial nail.

6. Spread an even layer of glue to your thumb and apply the fake nail starting from the edge nearest the cuticle. Apply gentle pressure and hold the fake nail down for 5 to 10 seconds before releasing.

7. Repeat Step 6 for the rest of the fingers.

8. Once you are done, viola, stretch your hands out and enjoy your handiwork! You can also choose to file any rough edges down or even shape the nails to any shape or length you want.

2 DIY posts in a row! I’ve been realllllyy hardworking these past weeks especially with the long holidays and half-days off work. Yay!

A couple of months back I did a tutorial on how to DIY a pair of bling lashes using glitter nail polish. That was the lazy girl easy way out. But here’s the REAL deal when it comes to blinging up your lashes.

These take a little less than an hour to do and in the final countdown your New Year’s Eve party, maybe you could do one up to add a little pizazz to your look later tonight!

Do you like them? If you do try this project out yourself at home, let me know how it goes for you!

Ive got mine all ready for my countdowns tonight and will probably post a picture of me wearing them bling in the next FOTD. So do check back for that look.

Have a Happy New Year! :)

Sometimes last minute things turn out to be the best things.

A mini gathering planned in less than 24 hours beforehand saw us trying to make decisions in an MSN conversation while not getting distracted by the 531634752 things going on everywhere else.

Thanks to a well-connected person, we landed ourselves in a nice little restaurant at the roof top of Orchard Central sampling fine dining Vietnamese dishes. Nuoc’s ambiance was nice and chill. We lounged in the plush chairs and watched as the crowd outside milled about the roof top garden. Haha. Talk about having a good view.

The unofficial theme was Black Christmas and we looked very much like mafia.

Monkey faces were optional. But we came prepared with them anyway.

We wined and dined like royalty; stuffing ourselves silly with humongous burgers and toasted to “Happy Jesus Birth Day” when the clock struck 12 many times over on our different time pieces.

But it was okay. Christmas is THE time to make merry and disregard the cries of your about-to-explode stomach. It is a time to feast, spread joy and of course, give.

Our last minute gift exchange stash turned out to be a pretty HUGE stash. Some braved the last minute shopping crowd to make a lot of wishes come true, while others gave up time and sweat to personalise each and gift.

Last minute things can truly turn out to the best and most exciting things. We chilled out, feasted, pretended to be zombies and had a memorable time despite being plan-less a day before.

Impromptu is our middle name.

Merry Christmas everybody!

The madness!

Twas a small room stuffed with 13 girls, each armed with 3 outfits. Wouldnt you like to be stuck in the room with us girls in bikinis. Haha. It was nothing but a mad rush, very unlike the times I’d stroll backstage in UCC and change in the very large changing rooms. It was so big that each dancer would almost be able to have their own mirror. HAHA!

But because the timing here was so tight, we didnt get to cam-whore much in between outfits. Had to rely on Michie love for some backstage shots.

Super love this photo of us! Hahahahaha! As you can see we tried to squeeze in whatever opportunity to cam-whore. Love you babe!

1 week to Coronation at Bellini Grande! Keep voting guys!

Short note: The last three pictures were taken with my Berry phone for Tweeting. The picture quality is obviously not fantastic. The only gripe I have against my otherwise awesome phone now with super chio themes!

I didnt think I’d spend my birthday 2 weeks ago in any special way but it turned out to be an awesome and fun day.

I spent most of the morning wondering how best to conduct the birthday giveaway because I’ve never done it on such a large scale. Haha. I worried and fretted over whether there’d be a loophole in the system or whether anyone wanted the items, but eventually figured out the best way of doing so. Lo and behold, in the end, I got more commenters than I thought I would have for the giveaway! I’m still reeling from the success of it and hope to do more awesome giveaways with other sponsors in the future. Silkmineral.com has kindly sponsored a whole of items which I will be giving out this week and next! Wheeee! They even included a little set for my own personal use making me a very happy girl.

Anyway, the morning spent with Mum and Nicole on my birthday passed quickly and soon I headed out to meet Mich for Ice Age 3 in 3D! Awesome show with fantastic graphics. It’s a feel-good show meant for chilling out, laughing and simply enjoying yourself. No need to crack your brains over some weird and twisted plot. What came as a surprise was that not only was the show in 3D, the trailers were in 3D too! Super cool!

After the movie we went to take Neoprints! Hahahaha. I think Neoprints are some things that you should just definitely take on birthdays or special celebrations to commemorate them. What better way to mark the occasion by capturing the moment in a pseudo photo studio? Afterall, you ALWAYS come out looking fabulous in Neoprints. No harm done.

To maximise the money we paid for the photos, we decided to linger in the studio a leeeeetle longer and make use of their background and soft white lighting. Lol.

Doing the 1, 2, 3. I leeched the pictures from Mich’s blog. I love what she’s done with the colours!

Our attempts to copy the Japanese girls in the posters looking kawaii failed miserably. Let’s just stick to being us.

I have so much fun with Mich because she’s so easy to be with. Thanks babe for the birthday treat! Oh and did I mention that she inspired me so much with her outfit that day, especially the Zara blazer, that I went out and bought something to that effect within the next couple of days? She’s got a wicked sense of style.

After all that excitement, I met with nadnut and Belle for coffee and got a little cake courtesy of beautiful Belle.

That somehow progressed into a mini birthday celebration involving the several SPI-ders orchestrated by my mom.

Queen Sallee. Princess Taqinah.

They so cute. They brought me flowers and a crown to simulate the crowning of Miss Earth. Hahaha! Huiwen bought the lovelies and brightest bouquet of gerberras for me. Thank you loves.

So, I am officially almost a quarter century old.

Finally I have the time to finish this long overdue post! And I’ve gotten the official pictures from the official photographer of the night – LetThereBeLight.com.sg. So be prepared for an overload of photos!

25th April 2009

The big day for Kieng arrived.

I’ve never been a jie mei for anybody as yet. So although this was my first time, I knew it was critical for us 6 girls to arrive early for the jie xin niang routine. We were over at the bride’s place around 730am as she was getting hair and makeup done.

While she was getting ready, we cam-whore and fill our tummies as Kobe, Kieng’s beautiful golden retriver looks on.

Soon the blushing bride is ready!

And we all clamour for a picture with her. Even Kobe!

The bride and her entourage of 6 jie meis. The colour scheme for the day was green.

Soon enough, the groom arrives. And it’s customary for a little boy to open the door. So cute! Same pose as his daddy. Haha!

The jie meis get to work holding the fort bargaining with the guys. Kieng’s sister is chief negotiator and Kobe is on our side too!

But we were nice and provided breakfast for the guys first: sausage chilli and bitter gourd muffin coupled with lemonade! Muahahahaha!

After which we decided they had to wax their legs if they wanted to gain access.

Of course we werent going to let them off so easily. There was a dance segment and a makeup segment where the boys had to be dolled up with lipstick.

Bangra dance anyone?

And finally, after almost an hour, they charged in because someone had gotten hold of the key! But not before we block the door of the entrance to the bride’s room and they tried to shoot us with a super soaker. LOL.

Of course, we cleverly hid behind the groom and used him as a human shield. HAHAHA.

And when we let him pass, he had to sign one last contract before he gets the girl.

Say awwwwwwwww….

After the excitement of the morning, we move on to the customary tea-drinking ceremony at the groom’s place first.

Group picture!

To the bride’s house after she changes.

Off we go! I really like this picture. Very vintage.

Offering tea to her parents.

Happy parents.

It wasnt till almost 1 plus that we left for home to get ready for the wedding dinner that night. One last group picture before we adjourned and meet again later.

Phew think I’ll keep the wedding dinner for another post.
