I’ve always believed that if you want your make up to last the entire day, investing in some of the best make up primers are the way to go. But despite not using them and sitting through long hours at a beach shoot and a casual rock shoot, the glominerals liquid foundation came out tops over shine, oil and disappearing formulation.

Blame it on my curious nature then, if the liquid foundation was such a winner, I had to find out more about glominerals makeup. It was timely investigation because I happened to stumble upon their very new Champagne Collection launched very recently here in Singapore.

I was very impressed by the velvety texture of the Eyeshadow Trio in Napoli (SGD 58). The three different shades of shadow to glide smoothly over your skin with no compromise on pigmentation. The trio’s colours are the perfect combination for everyday wear.

Also new in the glominerals Champagne Collection is the Bellini blush (SGD 47).

Again very impressed by how smooth and velvety the blush feels upon application, the Bellini blush is a winner in my books because it also creates a very healthy, rosy flush upon blending.

After the Brush Guards, I’ve been on a rampage with adding more brushes to my basic make up brush set. It was therefore hard for me to resist the Eye Texture Brush (SGD 42) used for building layers of eyeshadow all over the eye area. Of course, its very soft bristles didnt help my cause of resisting this make up brush.

Because glominerals makeup doesnt use parabens nor gluten-derived ingredients and has anti-inflammatory ingredients, it is suitable for sensitive skin types, including those with acne. I wouldnt recommend buying everything at one go given the steep price of the makeup; your skin might be happier but your wallet wont. But if you love quality make up and want something that cares for your skin, you will love glominerals makeup.

Make up foundation is probably one of the most essential make up must haves every girl owns. Whether you use make up daily or indulge in it occasionally, you know foundation base is the most important step in your basic make up routine you cannot do without. It acts as a foundation (literally) for all your other steps and is the primary creator of a flawlessly even face.

Make Up Foundation Base

The key to a flawless face is finding the best foundation for your skin. This quest is a tricky one because first there’s the problem of finding the right type of foundation: Do you pick liquid over mousse or powder above all? Next, there’s the whole issue of finding the best foundation shade that matches both your face and your neck to avoid looking like you’re wearing a mask. If you’re wearing foundation the whole day, you’d also want your foundation base to last the entire day instead of melting before the day is over.

Thus far, I’ve been rather lucky with my make up foundation bases in that they all even out my complexion, but I’ve yet to find the one that I like best and cannot do without. My current favourites are Everyday Minerals’ Base, Anna Sui Moisturising Fluid Foundation and MAC Studio Fix Foundation. I’m definitely looking forward to trying out Aqualabel’s Powder Foundation and the soon to-be-launched Maqui Miracle Natural Brightening Creator Compact Foundation!

If there’s one thing I love about doing What’s In My Make Up Bag is the fact that I get to document my make up stash. What with 2011 around the corner, it’s always good to do a stock take of my make up items before deciding to add anymore to my basic make up essential stash. When it comes to eye liners, I’m proud to say that they are not something I buy all the time. Although there are different types of eye liners to choose from (pencil, gel and liquid), I can safely say my all time favourite has to be gel eyeliners. The two I currently own are, in my opinion, the best gel eyeliners in the market.

Eyeliner

1. Kate Eyeliner Pencil in Black
2. Maybelline Expert Eyes Soft Kohl Eye Pencil in Black
3. H&M Eye Pen in White
4. Revlon Bedroom Eyes Powder Liner in Sultry Sapphire
5. L’OREAL Super Liner in Black
6. Kate Gel Eyeliner in Black
7. Gino McCray Auto Eyebrow & Eyeliner Pencil
8. M.A.C Eye Kohl in Smolder
9. Urban Decay Ink for Eyes Cream Eyeliner in Demolition
10. Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencils in Electric

It’s probably a good idea to have a mix of all three sorts of eye liner types to create varying definitions in your make up looks. I probably need to beef up my liquid eye liner collection so yes, I definitely need to find my tokidoki Perfetto Eyeliner. Bah!

Thanks to holiday season, I’ve been adding a whole bunch of eyeshadow palettes to my make up case. The Urban Decay Book of Shadows Volume 3 was the most recent acquisition but eyeshadows arent the only thing adding weight to my almost 4kg heavy make up case. Blushers are one of the basic must have make up essentials and i love how they do wonders for adding colour and brightening up your complexion.

Make Up Blusher

There is a HUGE variety of blusher colour but the most flattering and universal one would have to be a coral/peach toned one. I probably have to be thankful that I dont own that many make up blushers unlike the rest of my make up items. Haha.

2. Benefit Powder Pop blusher trio
3. id bareMinerals Hydrating Coral Blush in Coral Dusk
4. NARS Orgasm blusher
5. M.A.C Pinch-o-Peach blusher
6. NARS Super Orgasm blusher
7. bareMinerals All Over Face Colour in A Little Sun

A beginner without any basic make up know how would probably be mind-boggled by the insane number of cosmetic choices. All that jargon doesnt serve to help make things easier too: foundation, powder, blush, fluid foundation, bronzer, concealer, mascara, lipgloss, lipstick. Who can tell the difference and pick out the basic makeup essentials that every girl should have.

I remember when I first ventured into the field of makeup. I thought, “Wow, where to start. I wish someone had made a guide on what the must-have make up products are.” You will never go wrong with the basic makeup products in your bag. With them essential make up products in my makeup bag, I’d be one step closer to becoming a beauty-holic.

So, I decided to be that person. Just for anyone who needs help starting their makeup collection, this is my list of basic make up must haves I cant live without.
