Ahhh…. Sportsmen.

Toned, tanned bodies. Sculpted physiques with muscular lean lines. Rock hard abs and the perspiration that drips off these sexy bodily angles.

YUM~

Someone call the fire department NOW! Tooooooo HOT!

I love love love hot bods. Who doesnt!

Of course, these drool-worthy poster physiques dont come easy.

I remember training hard back in the DAPees days where bodies like that came naturally to us. The daily physical training wasnt easy; it was more than just physically tough. There were mental stumbling blocks we had to overcome too. The fear of failure was a prevalent one. The uncertainty of trying something new, the possibility that the new stunt we’re doing might not work out and hence, cause injury, or just plain feeling like you’re not good enough (how common that is) were more than just feelings; they were our second skin.

But we persevered. And pulled through to the very end because we were there for each other; supporting one another and encouraging each other when we most needed it. But most importantly, we had instructors who made the effort to boost our morales and help us along the way when we met with difficulties. They also celebrated with us every little milestone because it signified the overcoming obstacles that were attached to the particular challenge. It was an eventful 11-month journey of self-discovery, thanks to wonderful friends and superb instructors, all of whom I would like to especially thank. They have set the stone for me to lead a healthy lifestyle in the years to come.

Although I dont dance much nowadays, I have gone back to another sport which was always a first love — running. I never formally competed but have *cough* gathered several medals and trophies for the Annual Road Run or Sports Carnival back in those days.

I know how it feels to have your body in tip-top condition. To feel good about your body and know without a doubt that it’ll perfectly fit in your clothes. Having your body that fit also translates to a better immune system and thus less chance that you’ll fall sick! Not to mention the adrenalin rush that comes from having worked out – a natural blusher that is entirely organic.

However, it isnt always easy to for me to pry my bum off the chair after a hard day at work. But a certain individual who will always hold the title of Sports King in my eyes, despite finishing his reign last year, has served as a constant reminder and inspiration for me to put on my running shoes almost twice a week. Through his example and sheer dedication to ensuring he fits in his runs whenever he can into his already insanely packed schedule, not only have I become physically more fit, I feel a sense of accomplishment knowing that I can now run longer distances when initially I gawked at the thought of it. I feel happier too because although I have now put my dancing shoes back in their boxes and essentially given up a sport that combined both physical conditioning and a passion of mine, I have an alternative that I very much enjoy and can also do with like-minded people. For that, he will always be a Sports King and Sports Champion in my eyes.

I never knew how to thank him, but the opportunity has arisen. The POSB Everyday Champions Award is perfect for expressing my appreciation toward the above-mentioned individual. For always encouraging and standing by me, for being a healthy role model and showing me the joy of a healthy lifestyle, he certainly deserves to be recognised.

My nomination for this award, thus, goes out to him, my Sports King and Champion. ;)

Is there someone you’d like to thank who has given you undying support through your sporting pursuits or simply inspired you to want to pick up a new activity? Nominate him or her for the Everyday Champions Award! You can nominate everyday individuals who are inspiring sporting role models like my Sports King, encouraging family members who help you excel in your sport, or even great sporting fanatics who are at every sports game cheering their hearts out! Show your love for your favourite, most inspirational coaches and even organisations, big or small, that build a sporting way of life for all employees! Cash prizes await!

End of Season 2. They saved the world! No more Heroes for me! I’ve finished watching Season 2! Hahaha. And I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! Oh Adam Monroe. Adam Monroe. Such a surprise. But that was a story that came to a quick death. Haha. Still it was fun while it lasted, with it abrupt twists and jaw-dropping shockers. Didnt particularly fancy the repetition of abilities, but it played well into the storyline, hence the probable need for it. There were some powers I particularly fancied. Namely, the muscle mimic/adoptive muscle memory, Gabriel Grey’s (aka Sylar) ability to see how things work and maybe Peter Petrelli, who of course as we all know is the most powerful of them all, given that he can absorb whatever power.

I have become a couch potato. But only for Heroes. Now that the Season has ended (for me), I can totally understand how people stick to watching serials day after day, week after week. Social experiment completed. Results: TV IS addictive. You just get captivated and entwined in the world of the characters. And their lives become yours. Haha. Living vicariously through someone else.

That aside, it’s the end of the year. And the the time to reflect about lessons learned and work towards a better new year. The time for resolutions and all things new. Haha. This year held many note-worthy events, some of which were very sweet, equally painful and heart-breaking but all in all, strengthening. Friendships were forged and broken. New territories explored. Boundaries pushed. Dreams fulfilled or dreams shattered. And as usual, difficult decisions had to be made. Some on a daily basis, some at certain cross-road points in life. As I look through my older posts, I’d have to admit that I was more a fervent blogger previously as compared to now. There are some aspects of my life I’d rather keep private and well, others Im just too lazy to keep record of. Haha. (But I promise I WILL get to blogging about Code:Edge.) More importantly, time has in some sense worn away the faculty of fascination we all used to have as we were kids. No longer does a birthday cake with brightly lit candles trigger wonder and joy in adults. Instead, it reminds us of the years gone by, and the few short ones left.

As the number of candles increases, our achievements are never enough, we hoard and we keep, never letting go. But yet never satisfied with what we have in our vice-grip. Eventually, they are left in a place in our heart, that has turned so cold, stagnant, and in simpler terms, become taken for granted.

Kids have it the best. Really. Everything is new. Everything is wondrous. And they live with no previous memory of what it’s like to be hurt, feel betrayed and feel pain. The world is THEIR oyster and they explore without fear. Because there’s so much to see, so much to experience. No chains, no binds.

But, inevitably, responsibility plagues us. And the hand of the devil touches us, making us selfish.

Hence, my new year resolution (note no plural) for 2008 will STILL be to:

1) Keep an open mind.
Approach all new experiences with an open attitude because you really never know what you will learn and/or see and experience. Of course that’s not to say you dont TRY your best just because you’re there to experience it.

And that’s it.

I made a commitment last year when I signed on the dotted line for DAP. I remember blogging religiously each day about the progress I made, and the events each day, where we went. Each day of the one year program was new and everywhere we went was something unique. Everyone was a mystery to be solved. As time wore on, and it all became routine, ugly habits showed. But we persevered and pulled through. Made alliances, bonded and eventually made it to the end.

Sneak of Cabaret girls at the Carnival

Of course it was not all a bed of roses, we’ve had some brawls, but nothing major save for one.

Major perspective life change when I entered Honours year. *trigger alarm bells* Honours year leh. Cannot play play. Serious work. Could I cope? Especially when I was also doing DAP Grad Show at the same time. But hey results came out and I really did better than expected. At first, I thought I wasnt cut out for Honours year, but then maybe I am. And of course, there’s always the constant asking by relatives and friends alike of what your future career plans are when they hear you’re graduating soon. Grrrr.

Volunteering throughout the semester with my kids was no easy task either. But it was most certainly eye-opening. Whoever said or ever had the impression that volunteering was just a one-time off thingy was totally misled. I know I was. Until I started special art classes. Once a week, just one to two hours a day was rather draining. Imagine parents who have to live and care for children with special needs all the time. It was a lesson in patience and “parenting”. Kids with special needs have the same worries and anxieties as any other child.

Got the see the dance “world” when dance greats dance2xs came to teeeeny SG. Watched dope competition and of course rub shoulders with the said greats.

Cute ABC. Haha.

Thanks Marie for letting me leech the photos. Hee. Like I said, I’m gonna blog about Code:Edge in an entirely different post.

Which means it’s almost time to say goodbye to 2007 and bid 2008 a warm welcome in a few hours time. 2007 has been full of amazing experiences, both ups and downs. Of course, also sprinkled with other candy-coated events like when I landed certain high-profile modeling gigs or ended up featured on TV. Extra moolah yo! 2008 will begin with another modeling print for me. Hahaha. So exciting. See if you can spot me! It pays to dance. Also, random events like making friends with people who share the same passion from across the causeway and locally through blogging.

Humans are the only species that are concerned with memories. Because they define our existence. I thank my dear friends for being part of all the wonderful sketches of memories. 2008 will be an exciting year. I cant wait for all the things we’ve planned to happen. And of course, keep an open mind about the unexpected. 2008 will definitely be an exciting year for dance. So many concerts, so many competitions. It’s time to usher in a better year.

You’d think that now the exams are over, I’d be at home blogging everything that I’d had wanted to previously. Instead, I’ve just been bitten by the lazy bug. I’ve just been home the entire past few days bumming and watching streaming teevee. Waking up, walking around aimlessly at home. Plonking myself in front of the dining table and stuffing my face before gluing my bum to the computer chair for a good few episodes of Heroes. Ahh.. That’s the life yo.

On that note, because of my endurance, I’ve finished the entire Season 1 of Heroes! YAY! Hahaha! Good job! Might start on Season 2 soon. But before that, I’ll give my eyeballs a break.

Today was the last Urban Mix training of the year. Hrm.. Come to think of it, the lao jiaos werent around. People like Tina, Ah Fen, Andre, ZZ, Mag didnt show. No wonder the class was so small. Haha. It felt like DAPee training round two, but of course this time with the junior batch. Pei Shan took class and she turned it down a notch, which is really great because we hardly ever get back to basics during our regular classes. Hur.

The newer batch of UM-ers (ie. us) had the privilege of performing with said lao jiaos. Twas a small show la. An opening item for a DnD. Nothing much, but still fun nonetheless. Cos we got to dress us as Saturday Night Fever! Bold, bright colours, big afro hair and all that glitzy stuff. What’s not to like. Wahahaha! And there was a mini dance competition by the organisers. Fennie’s group won third! YAY! Too bad we didnt stay long enough to watch the competition. Haha. We were busy cam-whoring in the holding room.

Stuffing our faces before the show. We need all the energy we can get.

Doing the disco fever.

On stage.

Fennie in her sexay costume!

Us joining in the dinner. Table 34. YEAH right. We didnt get to eat anything la. All they gave us was water. No food from The Shangrila kitchen.

Code:Edge competition was dope. The showcase by the various dance groups was spectacular. And of course the long awaited “live performance” by 2xs was what we were all waiting for. And guess what. THEY HAVE A VIDEO UPCLOSE! Watch and be prepared to pick your jaw up from the floor.

Lee Daniel or Patrick Chen? Tough choice. Haha!

Dancers are retards. I mean really.

They do the weirdest things.

First of all, they pretend they’re walls and try to blend in.
Or maybe he really thinks he’s Spiderman trying to scale the walls.

Then they think they’re little bunny wabbits.

Or monkeys

Or dogs

Really.

And because they hang out so often together, they start to dress alike.

And possibly become conjoined twins joined at the hip too.

On top of that, they’re all freaks.

They twist turn and contort in all forms. But that’s not all bad now is it?
Especially when it’s GIRL ON GIRL action. Oh the mish-mash of bodies against one another. One arm here, another leg there. Hair all over the place. Sweaty bodies intertwined as screams pierce the air. A leg in some awkward angle. Arm reaching over someone else’s body.
But it gets better. It’s not just two girls. It’s FOUR!
.
.
.
.

Add one male to the entire concoction and what do you get?

TWISTER!

Hahaha. This picture is hilarious.
I’ve never played Twister before. But I must say it was quite fun. Haha!
Flexible people always have the advantage. I mean look at where Samantha’s hands are!
It’s like she can practically walk through her own legs.

Now the boys’ get their turn.
With their male testosterone, they get rough and tough. ROAR!

Anybody wants to play Twister with us?
*grins*

Make sure you have a good bath and spray loads of deodorant before that okay? Otherwise, it’ll be STINKY TWISTER!

It’s the last week of school before the exam break comes about. AND I ABSOLUTELY HATE IT.
This week I mean.

Other than the fact that I have a million and one bloody things to do, the lessons can be A TOTAL WASTE OF MY TIME.
BLEARGH! I’d rather spend my time at home, studying and tying up loose ends than going to class and getting absolutely nothing out of it.

I am miffed because have a paper due tomorrow at 2.45pm which I spent a total of 4 effing days finishing even though I told myself to finish it yesterday! I took so long because… because… Well, I didnt know how to get started on it at first because there were no specific guidelines to it. But then I decided I’d just do what I felt right. And I guess I took an awfully long time to get started on it proper because I wanted to make it count. But we’ll just see what happens.

One paper down. Only 2 tests, 1 assignment and one more review paper to write.
Tolong aku dong!

Anyway overdue pictures from the Graduation Ceremony at Fen’s.

The long road to Fen’s.

We finally see the house in sight!

Because the bunch of us reached there earlier, we mucked around in the pool.
Hidden amongst lush green trees. It offered a great place to relax and chill from the daily hassles.

Jin filling up the water gun. A man, a baby and a dog. Haha.

Preparing for battle! Friends at first.

ATTACK! THEN they start turning on each other.
Because the pool wasnt very big, but wasnt THAT small either, everyone just kept running around in circles around the pool chasing and shooting each other. Hahaha!

Shoot the purple monster! KILL BARNEY! HAHA! Jasmin kenna until damn jialat cause she was the last to arrive and we had schemed to attack her.
HAHA! The poor girl got soaked to the bone! But we’re not sorry. HAHAHA! =x

PB081561
Mei Zheng the pink monster also kena shoot until she threatened to shoot herself. With a water-gun.

PB081557
The little green ranger takes a potato chip break.

Before dinner was served my camera died! Booohooo! Didnt get to take pictures of the yummy food Fen cooked AND the yummy chocolates Julius made for all of us! Alcoholic chocolates shaped into little volcanoes! Crisp on the outside, oozing liquidy chocolate on the inside! Very much like a real volcano! Be jealous people!

But if you want in on the action, visit his newly updated site:

Im glad the bunch of us are in Urban Mix! Hahaha. Yay for ostracising teamwork!
