You’ve probably read my posts on beauty tips and wondered where I get these tips from. Well, as a beauty blogger, I indulge and keep to a strict daily beauty regime. Many of the beauty tips I share on this beauty blog comes from personal experience; everything is mostly tried and tested. So today instead of dispensing more beauty tips, I’ll let you take a peek into my beauty regime and share with you my daily beauty routine.

Skin Care Routine

1) Stick to a basic skin care routine
After waking up in the morning I brush my teeth and wash my face. A basic skin care routine is a crucial part of keeping good skin, so I never skip this step. When your skin is fresh from a good night’s sleep, this is the best time to pack it with important nutrients from your moisturizer!

2) Sunblock
Once your skin is clean and hydrated, remember to apply sunblock before doing anything else. If you decide to be hardworking and do up a 5 minute make up face, sunblock should without fail be the first step to your daily beauty routine.

3) Have a hearty breakfast
Mom was right when she said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I like to stuff myself with cereals and milk because I find that eating breakfast actually stops me from snacking throughout the day. Nutritionists advise a breakfast chock full of fibre and carbs. So stock up on your fruits, cereals and bread never dont be afraid to stuff yourself silly with these energy foods during breakfast.

By the time the afternoon comes around, you might find yourself in a post-lunch coma. What I find works to keep the zzzzz’s at bay is reducing the amount of carbohydrates I intake during lunch. After that, read these beauty tips on how to stay fresh throughout the day.

4) Sleep well at night
Phew. We finally made it through the busy day. At the end of the day after a hard day of work, I like to make sure that I get a good rest without any worries. It’s important to rejuvenate and recharge after working hard. They dont call it beauty sleep for nothing. Other than keeping these tips for better sleep in mind, I like to make sure that during my periods I can toss and turn without worry. With the Whisper Overnights, I sleep well at night and wake up energised in the mornings ready to face the challenges of the new day.

There you go. Just a little peek into my daily beauty routine. It isnt anything too difficult to follow dont you think? Rather, it’s being conscious about the little choices we make. Share with me, what is your daily beauty routine like?

Wait, I know what you’re thinking. Grooming tips for men?! Before you faint and call the ambulance, let me explain myself. As you probably already know, dweam.com is a Singapore Beauty Blog. As much as 99.9% of my posts have been dedicated to beauty tips for women, my sole purpose of blogging has always been to make everyone beautiful. A month ago, I tweeted that precise statement and instantly got a response from a bunch of guys who asked if my audience included men.

The mere thought of being men being “beautiful” probably sounds unlikely but nevertheless, I said, “Why not?”. No body ever said that there couldnt be beauty tips for men. Of course, no one actually calls them beauty tips for men. After consulting the men around me, they agreed grooming tips for men definitely sounds like a more appropriate and macho term.

Well-groomed men come across as more polished and definitely more attractive than your average mortal. If a guy carries himself well, smells amazing and looks clean, he’s bound to turn to some heads for all the right reasons. Compared to someone who’s got snot hanging from his nose, greasy hair and smells of garbage, the only thing he’ll be turning is noses up in the air. Now boys, I know the concept of “taking care of yourself” seems as foreign as life on another planet, but let’s start with some easy grooming tips for men to get you on your way.

Men's Grooming Tips

1) Using deodorant or antiperspirant
Deodorant helps to mask or remove the smell that potentially may emanate should you perspire. So, you get to be naturally sweaty yet still smell nice. Antiperspirants, as the name suggests, prevent you from perspiring, therefore preventing any smell from resulting at all.

Can you imagine looking mighty fine in your brand new silk shirt and dazzling cuff links. But when you raise your arm to call the waiter, to get the file on the top shelf or simply to just stretch, you look over to your left and see the look of horror on the nearest female’s face. Why? Because sweaty underarm patches are not cool. FACT.

Firstly, sweaty underarm patches ruin your very nice shirt. Secondly, they smell. It’s no big secret that everybody perspires. I’m not going to lie and say girls smell like flowers all the time. I’ve been around girls who stink and science has shown that women actually have more bacteria under their arms than men. More bacteria means more bad smell. The secret, however, to smelling like a you live in a perfume store is to either mask, eliminate or prevent bad smell.

2) Rinsing with mouth wash
I’ll give everyone the benefit of doubt and assume everyone knows how to brush their teeth. Flossing definitely gives you extra points, but if you’re too lazy to do either one, here’s the next best thing: CHEAT with mouth wash. Mouth wash cleans your mouth of bad bacteria. No bad bacteria means no bad smell! A couple of rinses makes a girl wanna kiss you more.

3) Spraying cologne
My girl friends and I really appreciate a man who smells clean. We know we cant always ask for the moon. But we say if he smells amazing, he scores an extra 10 points immediately. This is where cologne comes in.

Some smells make me swoon (in a good way) while others just make me dizzy and want to throw up. Good smells usually come from pretty bottles like this. Inside these pretty bottles is liquid that smells nice. Pay attention boys, this is what we call cologne. Cologne is worn after you’ve showered and used deodorant or antiperspirant. I have a few favourites that I like my boys to wear. In fact, every girl has a preference for a certain smell, so I’ll leave you to find out which cologne it is in particular that drives your dream girl crazy.

If you’ve made it this far and havent given up reading, I applaud you. Because of that, I’m going to try my luck and push things a little further. On top of the three things I mentioned above, I challenge the boys reading this to maintain a basic skin care routine just like the girls. Nothing fancy, just a simple skin care routine of washing, toning and moisturising for clearer skin.

I’m sure the girls reading this post would agree that they go through some sort of pain to make themselves look better and sometimes we wish the boys could see it. Perhaps walking in our shoes might be the best way to truly understand what us girls go through. Since the new year is coming around, maybe it might just be a good time to make a resolution to take better care of yourself boys. Like I always say, why be good-looking when you can be better-looking? ;)

I feel really honoured when people tell me I have good skin because I sincerely believe that I have a very basic skin care routine. It’s nothing too fancy. Thinking back, I never really knew about proper facial skin care until I started going for facials. But it’s taken me this long to come to the realisation that basic skin care is possibly the most important thing in getting good skin. It is the basic skin care needs that must be taken care of if good skin is to be achieved.

Basic Skin Care Needs

I dont wear make up on a daily basis so I keep a pretty strict skin care routine to maintain clear skin. If you’re a skin nazi like me, I’ve got some basic skin care tips you might want to think about incorporating into your daily facial skin care regimen, if you already have one that is. Otherwise, here’s a guide to a basic skin care routine that both guys and girls alike can use. For good skin, all that’s needed is a simple skin care routine that covers your basic skin care needs.

1) Cleanser

Basic Skin Care Needs - Cleanser

Cleaning your face is the most basic of all steps in your daily facial skin care regimen. Spending a good part of the day outside of the house, the first thing you want to do when you get home is to thoroughly cleanse your face from all that perspiration, dirt and grime. Leaving impurities on your skin surface clogs pores and eventually causes break outs. It’s recommended for thorough cleaning, wash your face in small circular motions.

2) Toner

Basic Skin Care Needs - Toner

This cooling alcohol based solution’s primary purpose in your basic skin care routine is to tighten pores and remove any residual dirt that cleansing might have missed out, but you can even use it to remove excess oil from the skin during the day for a refreshing feeling. There is no one specific way how to use and apply facial toner, but it is most commonly used on a cotton pad. Gently sweeping the cotton pad across your face and neck in an upward motion is sufficient to remove trace dirt from your skin. Always remember to avoid the delicate eye area.

3) Moisturizer

Basic Skin Care Needs - Moisturizer

Now this is a tricky yet highly crucial part of any basic skin care routine. Regardless of what skin type you have, moisturizing with the right type of moisturizer will ensure that you get glowing skin. Moisturizers provide important nutrients to maintain the moisture balance and improve skin texture. Whether you have oily skin, combination skin or normal skin, keeping your skin’s moisture content up is key to getting good skin. Here’s some skin care tips on what a good moisturizer should do for your skin: It should 1) rehydrate your skin and lock in moisture 2) not clog pores 3) not cause an allergic reaction to your skin.

4) Sunblock

You probably are already sick of my nagging you about sunblock. I’ve included it as one of the Basic Essential Make Up Must-Haves and also as a beauty necessity when traveling. So there really isnt much for me to say about it except that it’s infinitely good for your skin and prevents pre-mature aging.

So there you go, my guide on how to get good skin; the basic skin care needs that should be addressed in your daily skin care regimen. Other important steps skin nazis like me may want to think about including in their daily routine are using masks and scrubs. Scrubbing helps to rid your skin of dead skin to give you a brighter complexion. Other than that, it also promotes cell regeneration. Applying a clay mask once a week regulates oil production. These steps done weekly help keep your skin in tip top condition.
