Are you as mad as the Mad Hatter?

I’m not because I’ve already watched Alice in Wonderland! You’d be incredibly mad and tear your hair out if you didn’t catch this fabulous movie. I’ll tell you why.

It was a spectacular show with fantastic CGI and incredible detail. I loved every minute of the visual spectacle. The producers took great pains to bring the famous Disney characters to life; the white rabbit looked like it came straight out of the classic cartoon. Tim Burton was also careful to ensure Wonderland was as wonderful as we know it. The colours were mind-boggling, cinematography dramatic and characters entertaining. This whole experience of venturing through Wonderland was thoroughly enjoyable. Well done, Burton!

I was actually invited to watch the movie in 3D but sadly couldnt do so owing to work commitments. If I had, my eyeballs most likely would have fallen out of their sockets, seeing how wide I’d already opened my eyes to take in the gorgeous CGI during the regular screening.

Character wise, I liked Alice. She was a revolutionary girl of her time and dared to challenge the norms of her society. She was not afraid to say “No”. Sadly, I felt she was a little overshadowed by the rest of the characters while in Wonderland. That, however, could have been entirely part of the story line because she was supposed to…….. I’M NOT TELLING YOU! Haha. You have to go watch it. I’m not going to give away any spoilers here. Haha.

Another character that really stood out for me was the Mad Hatter. He was insanely funny and well, just plain insane. Johnny Depp was the epitome of the Mad Hatter. He played the character sooooo well and embodied the true essence of what it was like to be a little mad in the head. If I had to pick, I’d say he was my favourite character among all the other fabulous ones. Mad Hatter was madly entertaining, had mad eyes, madly funny, mad in the head and made me laugh like mad especially when he did his mad little dance at the end.

Okay, that was a little too many “mads” in the sentence. But you get my point.

Brilliant costumes (I want Alice’s red dress!), superb makeup (I love how they did the Mad Hatter’s makeup) and funny antics throughout the show might make you go a little crazy in the head as you’re watching it. But really, if you watch it and go a little mad, bonkers, off your rockers just like the Mad Hatter because of the show’s awesomeness, it’s really quite all right.

You know why?

I’ll let you in on a little secret, it’s because all the best people are. Even Alice would agree.

Alice in Wonderland is now showing in cinemas.

Alice in Wonderland has finally opened in Singapore cinemas! And adding to the Alice in Wonderland craze, makeup brand Paul & Joe has jumped on the bandwagon and teamed up with Disney to come up with a new collection to commemorate Tim Burton’s movie.

How cute is the packaging?! They used Disney’s classic Alice in Wonderland.

Blotting Paper with mirror for shine control and their refills.

Lip Treatment that works to add a hint of colour while conditioning dry lips
Sweet Milky Pink – Fantasy (pink set)
Sheer Orange – Daydream (blue set)

According to BritishBeautyBlogger, the collection has launched in February on ASOS.com. I wonder if they’re still available.

Are you as mad-hattered as I am with regards to all the merchandise relating to this movie? I would totally buy everything if I could, because Alice in Wonderland is such a classic!

To add to your Alice in Wonderland Book of Shadows collection, OPI has nail polishes that honour all things Alice.

The new collection invites you to Wonderland with 4 beautiful colours.

Off With Her Red! – A brilliant tomato red
Absolutely Alice – Sparkly blue that obviously matches Alice signature blue dress
Mad as a Hatter – Grey/black with mad loads of multi-coloured glitter
Thanks So Muchness! – Metallic berry red with an undertone of pink

I can definitely see myself wearing Mad as a hatter for some mad partying, and the two reds for the upcoming Valentine’s/Chinese New Year holiday. Unfortunately, I dont think these are out in our local stores yet. I just got wind that some stores are already carrying these, Sephora being one of it! Yay!

Which of the 4 featured colours do you like best?

I stumbled upon the Urban Decay website late one night and my heart stopped short.

ALICE IN WONDERLAND!

Let’s not talk about Alice whom everyone obviously knows. But who can forget the Mad Hatter, the White Rabbit with his pocket watch, the Cheshire Cat with his amazing wide grin and of course, the Queen of Hearts.

Off with her head!

Not only does the collection come out in time for Spring 2010, it also marks the launch of Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland movie.

The palette comes with 16 eyeshadows, 2 eye liners and it’s famous Urban Decay Primer Potion all in a beautiful box that opens to a pop up of Alice in the mushroom forest.

Named in line with Wonderland, the 16 best-selling eyeshadows are given topsy-turvy names like White Rabbit, Jabberwocky and Oraculum. With the best-selling Urban Decay Primer Potion tucked neatly beside these shadows. I’m quite eagerly awaiting the palette to arrive here so I can lay my grabby little hands on them! I might take a leaf out of the movie stills to inspire me to use the psychedelic colours.

What do you think of this collection? Would you buy it?
