Ring Haul: Knuckle Duster Rings

A girl can never have too many bling. As with my make up products, I get into obsessions with certain accessories and for the longest time it’s been rings. Big, bold, beautiful rings. Of course not forgetting bling!

Ring Haul

Colourful butterfly ring: Forever 21
Oval silver ring: NYC
Single wing ring: Hong Kong
Double star ring: Forever 21
Rosette ring: Mini Bits

But specifically, my obsession has been with knuckle duster rings. I love how they effortlessly decorate more than just a finger on your hand. With one ring, you’ve practically dressed up your arm. And yes, the bigger the better. The bling-er the best.

Unfortunately, I havent seen too many of these delicious knuckle duster arm candies here on our local shores, but I could really just be looking in all the wrong places. So when I saw a whole bunch of them at Forever 21, I had to stop myself from buying the whole shelf.

Knucle Duster Ring Haul

Flower cluster knuckle duster ring: Forever 21
Leopard knuckle duster ring: River Island
Gecko knuckle duster ring: Forever 21
Four star knuckle duster ring: Forever 21

What’s In My Make Up Bag – Eye Make Up

Mascaras and Eyeliners

If you thought I had a lot of products inside my make up bag just for getting the perfect face, here comes the fun part: eye make up. You wont believe the amount of time Miss Universe contestants spend doing eye make up. You know how they say the eyes are the window to the soul and honestly, nothing makes the eyes stand out more than smokey eyes and kohl rimmed eyes. Here are just a few of the tools behind those piercing eyes. We start with mascara.

Maybelline Define-a-Lash Volume Mascara: The sister to my holy grail of mascaras. This mascara gives volume to your lashes and shares the same properties as its sister mascara holding your lashes perfectly curled and prettily separated.
Maybelline Define-a-Lash Lengthening Mascara: I have a whole stash of this mascara in my make up drawer because you cant find it here in Singapore. I dont know how many tubes I’ve gone through but I never ever complete my make up routine without this mascara.
Majolica Majorca Lash Wing Gorgeous: With them fibre bits in its formula, I expected a lot more from this mascara to get them wing-like lashes. But I find it doesnt compare to Imju Fibrewig’s Mascara although you can use it on the tips of your lashes for a wee bit more length.

And then there are the various eyeliners to define the eyes.

MAC Eye Kohl: Intense pencil eyeliner that smudges for that partied-all-night look.
Kate Super Sharp Liner: As the name suggests, this flexible felt-tip eyeliner is super sharp and I love it for its precision and ability to give that perfect wing on the outer corners.
tokidoki Perfetto Eyeliner: This felt-tip eyeliner has played hide and seek with me countless times. But now that I’ve finally managed to catch a hold of it, I brought it to Sao Paulo
Kate Gel Eyeliner: My alternative to liquid liners because of its slightly softer effect.
Kate Pencil Eyeliner: Because I’m so used to gel eyeliners and liquid eyeliners now, this to me is like a baby eyeliner. Good for beginners of eyeliners. I normally use it to decide where I want to line my eyes before finalising the line in liquid or gel.

Eyeshadow

I’m a sucker for eyeshadows and its pretty palettes. If I could I would have brought all my eyeshadows, but obviously that’s quite impossible. So I picked those that would be versatile for all sorts of situations and those that would come out best in photos or telecast. Here’s the list:

Urban Decay Book of Shadows Volume 3: A mix of 16 of psychedelic yet wearable colours to match any outfit, how could I not bring this palette along?
Bobbi Brown Denim and Rose Palette: A cool-toned palette that packs everything in one.
Majolica Majorca Trick On Eyeshadow Palette: Used mainly for its Trick-on eyeshadow that’s great for highlighting the brow bone or inner corners of the eyes.
NARS Pandora Eyeshadow Duo: My all time go-to for black eyeshadow. This is THE undisputed best eyeshadow you have to get if you are a fan of black eyeshadow because it’s incredibly highly pigmented and blends well to give the perfect smokey eye.
Dolly Wink Cream Eyeshadow in Crystal: This cream eyeshadow is clear yet uber sparkly thanks to the obscene amount of holographic glitter in it. I love how you can use it all over your lid as a all over base shadow or add a dab of it over your matt eyeshadow for a hint of glitz.
glomineralsEyeshadow Trio in Napoli: Perfect for a soft day look.
Urban Decay Naked Palette: THE coveted brown palette that you can use either for day or night, smokey or natural.
Loreal Open Eyes Pro: Other than using the eyeshadows for day, the darkest colour doubled up as eyebrow powder for me!

To top of all that eye make up and put the finishing touches to striking eyes, a beauty queen must never forget to apply fake eyelashes!

Best Friends

Sponsored Post

Best Friends

My best friends have seen me through all sorts of hair colours and hair styles. They been through countless birthdays and all the heartbreaks, and we’ve endured fashion trends of all sorts together. From mid-riff baring tops to comfy hoodies, we love each other whether we’re heavily made up for dance or practicing bare faced.

Dove Chocolates

But what we really love to do to really enjoy each other’s company and bond is to share food together. Nothing makes our relationship sweeter than sharing chocolate because sharing is caring. Like how we share all our food, sharing one bar of smooth and delicious Dove chocolate between the 3 of us sweetens our time together. We slowly savour the silky smoothness of the fine chocolate by breaking it off piece by piece accompanied by chit chat and amidst laughter. Dove Chocolate perfectly compliments these moments with people you love and was definitely meant for sharing.

What’s In My Makeup Bag – Face of a Beauty Queen

If you’ve lamented about the lack of recent updates, I will not hesitate to point fingers at my very comfortable bed that has held me hostage the past week or so since I came back. But other than that, I wish unpacking was an easy job, unfortunately it’s not. If I may be honest, I still have clothes somewhere in my suitcases strewn across the living room floor. But the easiest and naturally, most obvious items I unpacked first was my makeup and I thought I’d let you have a peek inside the make up case I brought to Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Inside My MakeUp Bag

Instead of lugging my original make up case that’s 4kg heavy across oceans and beyond, I narrowed the items down with the help of Mag from makeupstash.com for the specific look I wanted for the Miss Universe 2011 competition.

With 3 check-in luggage and 1 hand-carry, it was close to impossible to bring everything inside my make up bag for make up every day for 26 days. So I took a leaf from the travel make up kit I brought to Hong Kong and packed the essentials in my brand new make up bag given to me by Singapore’s one and only, Sarah of facesbysarah.com

I’ve split the entire stash into 2 parts. The first part focusing on how to get the face of a beauty queen (ie foundation, concealer, blusher and lippies) while the next part will be all about the eyes. So have you ever wondered what goes inside the make up bag of a beauty queen? Well, let’s start unpacking the contents and have a tiny peek.
