Synonymous with the trenchcoat, Burberry first made waves in the beauty scene when they launched the Burberry Body perfume with Rosie huntington-Whiteley as the body face behind the new women’s perfume.

Burberry Makeup Festive Collection Fall 2011

Now, this Fall/Winter 2011, they’ve brought in the Burberry Beauty line to Singapore. Yes, you heard that right, Burberry makeup. On top of being decked out in their iconic trench coats, fans of Burberry can now match their outfits with a Burberry Festive Look makeup.

Burberry Makeup Lip Glow

Of the new items in the Burberry Beauty makeup collection, I thought the Burberry Lip Glow (SGD $39) was something unique. Isnt the iconic Burberry print on the lipstick itself so chic! To the naked eye, the Lip Glow looks like a lipstick and you’d be forgiven for thinking it was one.

Burberry Makeup Lip Glow Swatches

But upon swatching the three new trench colour inspired colours – (L-R) Bright Plum, Ruby and Nude Gold, you’ll realise the Lip Glow’s texture is slightly sheerer and clearer than your regular lipstick. Light oils in the Burberry Lip Glow give it fluidity and a smoother and slicker application compared to the usual lipstick. It also reflects light to create the illusion of fuller lips, at the same time leaving lips supple and shimmering with natural highlights.

Burberry Makeup Singapore

What really strikes me about the Burberry Beauty make up collection is the very stylish packaging of all their products. Everything, from their eyeshadows, lip products and even foundation, is encased in a metallic grey casing with the signature Burberry checkered print. Definitely make up products you’d want to be seen with if you’re a fashionista clad in your favourite Burberry.

Burberry Make up Eyeshadow

They even make the effort to stamp the print onto their eyeshadows and lipsticks. I’m put in a spot now because I dont want to ruin the gorgeous print on the Burberry Sheer Eyeshadow (SGD $46) but love the fidelity of the colour and soft satin texture.

Burberry Makeup Foundation Review

I used the Burberry Beauty Sheer Foundation Luminous Fluid Foundation yesterday at a house party and thought the mid to heavy coverage of the foundation was a pleasant surprise considering how the foundation was fairly light on the skin. The texture is a lot more like mousse when pumped from the bottle even though it’s named “Fluid” foundation, but blends easily into a smooth and even finish and on top of that, gives a nice luminous look.

How many of you are Burberry fans? Will any of you be trying out this Burberry Beauty collection?

Burberry Beauty makeup can be found exclusively at TANGS Orchard Singapore.

Whoever said good things come to those who wait was right. When the OPI Pirates of the Caribbean series launched, Mermaid’s Tears was the first colour to catch my eye. It was a green like no other. I wouldnt normally wear green on my fingers (I really am quite boring in my choice of nail polish colours), but I wanted this particular mermaid green. My heart raced and my fingers itched to buy the mini Pirates of the Caribbean set, but I didnt.

Months later, I find myself at a flea market where $10 nail polishes are simply too hard to resist. I pour through the colours and what do you know, Mermaid’s Tears in a full sized bottle! At half the price in retail shops! So, uhhh.. I picked up three bottles. Just for good measure.

OPI Nail Polishes

The colour palette of this random set falls in the more pastel colour scheme despite being from different collections. OPI Kyoto Pearl, from the OPI Soft Shades collection, is a pearlised white that comes out sheer on your nails. I figure a good 3 coats should do the trick.

Then, there’s San Tan-tonio from the OPI Texas Spring 2011 collection, that reminds me a whole lot of a favourite suede bag that goes with practically anything. Instead of the usual sheer pink neutral nails, I figured I’d try something different with a light brown colour. It was a tough choice choosing which 3 of the lot would go on my nails. Eventually, Mermaid’s Tears won because of all the good things I heard about it from fellow nail polish aficionados.

OPI Mermaids Tears Swatch

Two coats of Mermaid’s Tears was all that was needed to achieve this rich seafoam green. Application was smooth and the creme texture was painless to apply. Although the colour is a little richer in the photo swatch, in reality it’s a slightly softer, more pastel, sage-like colour. In fact, it seems like a lighter version of the green in my blog theme! Haha!

The softness of OPI Mermaid’s Tears is what gives this colour its sophistication, yet the vibrancy of seafoam green will certainly catch your eye. Fuss-free, just paint and go. You’ll love this OPI nail polish so much you might even shed a tear like the mermaids did. OPI Mermaid’s Tears is legendary much like the mystical creatures it was named after. This green is a dream.

Christmas is coming and I had the great honour of getting a preview of the pretty MAC Glitter and Ice Collection early last month. The best part was learning how to create a MAC Disco Tech Look with MAC Senior Artist Beno Lim using the Glitter and Ice collection. A big thank you to TANGS Singapore and MAC for the awesome makeup tutorial!

When you look at this brand new MAC makeup collection, it will send shivers down your spine. In a good way of course. It is silvery, glittery, pretty, wintry, icy… everything relating to a white Christmas! I am thoroughly enchanted by the moving swirly bits on the Ice Parade Snowglobe eyeshadow palettes. It’s just like someone took them ice crystals and put them in a snow globe for you. Now, you have a portable snow globe in your purse.

MAC Glitter and Ice 2011 Collection Lineup

The new MAC Glitter and Ice Collection is unlike the usual MAC makeup because for one, it’s white! I love everything white because it gives you such a clean feeling. Gimme gimme gimme. As with all their Christmas collections, the Glitter and Ice collection is no different. They launch the entire works for the holiday season including lipsticks, Dazzleglass, Technakohl Liner, Mineralize Eye Shadow, Paint Pots, Beauty Powder, nail polishes and falsies in the lineup.

If you liked the makeup video using the MAC Glitter and Ice Collection, here’s a closer look at the collection itself. Pay close attention to the makeup swatches because you could just win $150 worth of MAC products to glam up your Christmas look!

Deborah Lippmann Nail Polish Singapore

Deborah Lippmann nail polishes have always received lots of hype on the beauty blogs of both overseas and Singapore beauty bloggers. Now that Deborah Lippmann nail polishes are finally here on Singapore shores thanks to Luxola, anyone and everyone can finally get instant access to these delightful polishes with their next day delivery service.

Deborah Lippmann Nail Polishes

Unfortunately, I have no self-control when it comes to sparkly stuff. Just like the OPI Miss Universe collection and OPI Burlesque collection, I went nuts adding 4 new bottles of Deborah Lippmann nail polishes to my cart on top of already purchasing the Face Atelier Ultra Foundation.

Deborah Lippmann Red Ruby Slippers Swatch

Of the 3 Deborah Lippmann glitter polishes I bought, Red Ruby Slippers has probably got to be my favourite. With an obscene amount of large red sequin glitter and fine red glitter in a black jelly base, this nail polish makes you sit up and pay attention. Red and black is a fierce colour combination that you really cant argue with, but you’ll need at least 3 coats of nail polish before the translucent black base becomes opaque. You’ll also have enough glitter on your nails to rival Dorothy’s real red ruby slippers.

Deborah Lippmann Across the Universe Swatch

I decided to call this Deborah Lippmann nail polish the mermaid nail polish thanks to a comment a friend made when she saw the nails. “It looks like a mermaid!” she exclaimed. If you’re intending to dress up as a mermaid this upcoming Halloween, I would suggest using this on your nails. In fact, Across the Universe should really be renamed to Across the Ocean. With a mix of both blue AND green large hex glitter sequins in a black jelly base, they look like the scales on a beautiful mermaid swimming in the dark depths of the deep blue ocean.

Deborah Lippmann Bad Romance Swatch

Deborah Lippmann Bad Romance will definitely appeal to any Lady Gaga fan, although I cant say I went gaga over this colour. The large purple hex glitter and fine glitter doesnt stand out as much like its red counterpart, but the purple, nevertheless, is a cool colour to rock out to.

Deborah Lippmann Sarah Smile Swatch

Like the rest of the Deborah Lippmann lot, the lightest colour of the loot still needed a minimum of 3 coats to get the best colour payoff. Sarah Smile is Deborah Lippmann’s collaboration with Sarah Jessica Parker to create what they call the “city’s sexiest pink”. It goes on sheer and is almost whitish at first glance, but build it up to at least 3 layers and you’ll find it a whitish-pink, pinkish-white or beige tone. Honestly, it doesnt matter what you call it, it’s an amazing and unique nude colour and I LOVE IT.

But it’s not just the colours that gets the nail addicts raving. What really sets these Deborah Lippmann nail polishes apart from the rest of the other nail polishes is the fact that the glitter polishes are so easy to remove. As much as I love glitter nail polishes, they are a b*tch to remove. I’m sorry. But I hated removing the OPI Burlesque collection from my nails. It even got to a point where I just wanted to peel the glitter off my nails.

Regardless of which glitter polish it was, the Deborah Lippmann nail polishes were painless to remove. You might have to use your nails to chip the bigger pieces of glitter off, but it didnt feel like it took Herculean effort to do so.

I am sold on Deborah Lippmann. I got a sneak preview of the nail polishes that Luxola is bringing in for the Christmas season and I cant wait to get my hands on them. Maybe Santa will be extra nice this year and throw them in alongside all the other goodies he’s bringing me.

Honestly, I found it quite hard to use another foundation once I came back from Brazil. The glominerals gloProtective Liquid Foundation did a spectacular job with coverage and held up so well despite long hours and I sincerely have no qualms about calling it my favourite foundation.

But for the days that I didnt have to worry about whether someone would suddenly turn up with a camera in my face, I wanted something that had lesser coverage. Sounds like a weird request because you’ll hardly ever find someone who wants lesser coverage from their foundations, but the main idea was a lighter (and hopefully cheaper) alternative that I could slap on and go for days that I just wanted to be me.

So it was under the recommendation of Sarah of facesbysarah.com that I tried the newly brought in Face Atelier Ultra Foundation at Luxola.com. Truth be told, I’ve never heard of the brand Face Atelier until she told me about it. But the Face Atelier Ultra Foundation has had rave reviews and Luxola.com was the first of its kind to bring it in. It was time to go shopping.

Face Atelier Ultra Foundation

At SGD80 a pop, the alternative foundation that I was looking at had already failed the first criteria of being a (cheaper) alternative for daily use. glominerals gloProtective Liquid Foundation costs SGD65 for a 40ml bottle but the Face Atelier Ultra Foundation stands at 30ml. Nevertheless, the test must go on.

Face Atelier Ultra Foundation Swatch

The consistency of the Face Atelier Ultra Foundation was slightly runny and definitely was what I was looking for in terms of being a lighter foundation. Coverage upon application was actually really good, better than what I had wanted, and it was amazing that it didnt feel too heavy on the skin. Though, I must add at this juncture, that the foundation did leave a wee bit of a sticky feeling on the skin after application. But it wasnt something some loose powder couldnt solve.

Face Atelier Ultra Foundation Review

Despite wanting to use the Face Atelier Ultra Foundation for daily use, this foundation also performs really well for heavy duty use. Pat on a little more foundation, using either your fingers or brush, and then set with a little bit more powder and you’re good to go in front of the camera looking flawless with your girlfriend.

I’ve heard some people say they get breakouts from using this foundation, but I’ve had no problems thus far. You might, however, want to carry around a compact to prevent shine after living in the foundation for a few hours. I cant say this tops the list of my favourite foundations as the glominerals gloProtective Liquid Foundation is a tough one to beat, but I’ll definitely be using the Face Atelier Ultra Foundation more in the days to come.

I’ve always believed that if you want your make up to last the entire day, investing in some of the best make up primers are the way to go. But despite not using them and sitting through long hours at a beach shoot and a casual rock shoot, the glominerals liquid foundation came out tops over shine, oil and disappearing formulation.

Blame it on my curious nature then, if the liquid foundation was such a winner, I had to find out more about glominerals makeup. It was timely investigation because I happened to stumble upon their very new Champagne Collection launched very recently here in Singapore.

I was very impressed by the velvety texture of the Eyeshadow Trio in Napoli (SGD 58). The three different shades of shadow to glide smoothly over your skin with no compromise on pigmentation. The trio’s colours are the perfect combination for everyday wear.

Also new in the glominerals Champagne Collection is the Bellini blush (SGD 47).

Again very impressed by how smooth and velvety the blush feels upon application, the Bellini blush is a winner in my books because it also creates a very healthy, rosy flush upon blending.

After the Brush Guards, I’ve been on a rampage with adding more brushes to my basic make up brush set. It was therefore hard for me to resist the Eye Texture Brush (SGD 42) used for building layers of eyeshadow all over the eye area. Of course, its very soft bristles didnt help my cause of resisting this make up brush.

Eye Texture Brush

Because glominerals makeup doesnt use parabens nor gluten-derived ingredients and has anti-inflammatory ingredients, it is suitable for sensitive skin types, including those with acne. I wouldnt recommend buying everything at one go given the steep price of the makeup; your skin might be happier but your wallet wont. But if you love quality make up and want something that cares for your skin, you will love glominerals makeup.
