Urban Decay 15th Anniversary

Urban Decay, the beauty brand with an edge, is celebrating its 15th year anniversary this year! Other than already having a whole host of amazing products under its belt including the Urban Decay Naked Palette, Urban Decay Book of Shadows Volume 3 and holding the title for being the brand with one of the best make up primers around, the Urban Decay Primer Potion, my favourite make up brand is taking things one step further on their 15th birthday.

They’ve launched a limited edition collectable set of fifteen full-sized 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils with six brand-new never seen before shades and a sharpener to always keep your pencils on point! I’ve tried the Glide-On Eye Pencils previously and I adore the smoothness of the pencil. They dont call it the Glide-On Eye Pencil for nothing. It truly lives up to its name – just glide your pencil across your eyelid for instantly lined eyes.

I’ve seen the liners in Sephora Singapore. But as much as I love Urban Decay, I’m not too sure about the practicality of owning 15 eye liners in various colours unless you do stage make up on a regular basis. Give me the browns, blacks and whites anytime.

Are you a fan of Urban Decay? Would you buy this limited edition Urban Decay Glide-On Eye Pencil set?

They always say to keep your nail polish in a cool, dry place. Apparently, someone has taken that advice to the extreme and said that keeping nail polish in the fridge is the coolest and driest place you can actually keep your nail polish. With my new stash of nail polishes including the OPI Burlesque collection and OPI Katy Perry’s, this beauty tip looks like something I might try.

keeping nail polish in the fridge

It’s said that keeping your nail polish in the fridge will keep them smooth and easy to apply. Frosted nail polish will not separate. I’ve not tried this beauty tip of putting nail polish in the fridge but definitely am sure mom wont be very pleased when she opens the refrigerator door to find that all the groceries have been replaced by my nail polishes!

I’m curious if this works though. Has anyone of you ever tried it?

If you thought the glitz and glamour of Burlesque was over after the glitter nail polish from OPI Burlesque Collection, think again. Fans of the movie starring Christina Aguilera and Cher who want to steal the look from the movie will be pleased with the release from the official beauty brand on set of the much-anticipated film Burlesque: the Smashbox Burlesque Makeup kit.

Smashbox Burlesque Makeup

The Smashbox Burlesque makeup includes everything to help you steal the look from the movie. Use the Limitless Liquid Liner Pen in Jet Black over the Shadow & Liner Quad in Risque to create the perfect cat eye at the outer corners of your eyes. The Loose Shimmer in Burlesque and Double Ended Lip Gloss in Peep/Show will help you dazzle and steal the limelight.

First it came in Original and the Eden garden. Next, Urban Decay asked you to join them in Sin. And now, if your deadly sin is Greed, this is for you.

Urban Decay Primer Potion Greed

The Urban Decay Primer Potion is by far one of the best make up primers around. Newbies in make up probably wont use make up primers, but I’m starting to think it’s quickly earning a regular spot in my basic make up must haves.

Urban Decay has been very clever with reinventing their make up primers. They’ve introduced 2 previous colours – Eden and Sin, with their Primer Potions and now the third tinted Primer Potion, Greed, is a shimmering gold. The perfect embodiment of the deadly sin its named after.

What I really love about the Urban Decay Primer Potion is its great versatility. Thanks to its tint, you can wear on its own ala cream eyeshadow, or even as a radiant brow bone highlighter. Of course, you’d also use it for its original purpose of giving you more intense eyeshadow colours sans creases.

Already available on Sephora.com, I wonder when this Urban Decay Primer Potion will hit the counters of Sephora Singapore. Ah yes, Greed. Such a perfect adjective for describing my make up desires. But with a colour like that, wouldnt you say my desires are warranted?

Buy Secondhand Textbooks

Did you ever think reusing your textbooks would help your pocket, help someone’s grades and also help the environment? Well, if you’ve got a shelf full of textbooks and dont know what to do with them, get a little extra pocket money and help someone who might need your used books and helpful notes by selling them.

If you’re like me and have previously tried selling your used textbooks, you’ll know how difficult it can be to negotiate a fair price, get in contact with buyers and later arrange a meet up. The trouble we have to go through just to sell used textbooks probably explains why I still have all my textbooks almost 3 years after graduation. Problems also abound if you’re a buyer – searching for the specific book you need can be an uphill task. Going through thread after thread is time-consuming and frustrating and you never know which buyer you can trust.

Whether you’re from NUS, NTU, SMU or from any of the local Polytechnics, all that changes with a super easy to use website aptly named BookINBookOUT.com. Used by over 60% of the students from the three local Universities, you can expect to find thousands of textbooks used by students of SMU, NUS and NTU on BookINBookOUT.com.

Selling Second Hand Books

Instead of creating a new forum thread IVLE and keying in every detail about your book like your normally would, BookINBookOUT.com saves you all that trouble. Simply key in the ISBN number found at the bar code of your textbook and the system displays all required details at a click of a mouse. On top of that, BookINBookOut.com also protects identity thieves or stalkers from calling your phone or sending you unwanted emails because there is no need display your name, handphone and email publicly on the internet!

If you want to buy used secondhand textbooks, what better to way to get a good deal than to check with your friends what books they have. It’s always easier to rely on your friends because you trust them. As BookINBookOut.com connects seamlessly with Facebook, you’ll see what your friends are selling, and have choice over who to buy your textbook from.

Used Second Hand Textbooks

While saving 40%-60% off the price of brand new textbooks, you may also land yourself a free iPad or iPod Touch when you shop at BookINBookOUT.com. With such ease of transaction, I think I will now go sell my used textbooks and buy some interesting ones just to read because I am a geek that way. Anybody want to buy my used secondhand textbooks?

Jimmy Choo Perfume

We all know Jimmy Choo shoes, but do you know Jimmy Choo perfume? Well, after three years in the making, the famous shoe maker Jimmy Choo is finally releasing his latest creation – a Jimmy Choo perfume, not in the shoe department, but in the beauty department.

Said Tamara Mellon, co-founder, chief creative officer of Jimmy Choo and star of the ads, to WWD at a London event to launch the fragrance: “We’ve transitioned into a lifestyle luxury brand, and it seemed like the next natural step for us. Fragrance is such an important accessory for women – I think it will have a very broad reach. Our customer is every woman.”

Jimmy Choo Fragrance

Mellon was heavily involved in the making of Jimmy Choo’s debut fragrance, but the eventual fragrance was created by Olivier Polge of International Flavors & Fragrances. It’s a fruity chypre with green top notes, as well as exotic tiger orchid, sweet toffee and Indonesian patchouli notes.

Mellon explains the choice of ingredients. As a teenager her favourite fragrances included Opium and Anaïs Anaïs. “I love the smell of green fresh notes, they’re in the top notes of our fragrance. I like things that are sensual, so that’s how we came in with the patchouli.”

“We wanted to create something that was an object of desire, that you would be proud to have on show,” said Mellon of the Murano-glass-inspired perfume bottle. She has a history of using the Italian material for chandeliers in some of the first Jimmy Choo stores.

Shoes make an outfit and now to add to your wardrobe of stunning Jimmy Choo stilettos, Jimmy Choo fans can indulge in the Jimmy Choo perfume to top it all off. Unfortunately, local fans will have to travel all the way to the States for the perfume. The Jimmy Choo fragrance (USD 95) will only be available exclusively at Saks Fifth Avenue January 15, 2011.
