As a very very busy beauty blogger, I demand nothing less than always staying fresh. With long working hours, I like to think about how to stay fresh throughout the day to keep myself feeling in tip top condition. I work with children in the day, and you can be pretty sure that requires nothing less than an absolute abundance of energy.

Really, who has the energy to go out after that and how is it possible to stay fresh after such a long day? Even more so when you have your period. Sometimes, it can feel like you have to work your schedule around your period.

But I’ll share with you a secret. The different days of your 28 day cycle actually have certain benefits to your daily life. I previously was one of the Whisper’s Happy It’s Here ambassadors who got some tips and insights into the secrets of the cycle. It showed me how I could maximise the benefits of our cycle! In reality, it’s not that big an inconvenience and you can actually stay fresh and dry throughout the day regardless of your activities. So with what I’ve learnt, I thought I’d share with you some of my beauty tips on how to stay fresh all day, more specifically Ultra Fresh.

1) Water

We all know the benefits of drinking water, and I cannot emphasize how important it is to drink water to keep your skin hydrated and fresh-looking. 2 litres of crystal clear water is the minimum we need a day. But here’s a simple tweak you can make to your lifestyle to help you through your periods: Instead of your usual ice cold water, drink warm water to help reduce those cramps.

2) Keep a bottle of fragrance in your bag

Regardless of wherever I go, I love to keep a bottle of eau de toilette or body mist in my bag. In fact, I have about 2 different scents in my bag at the moment. Whenever I’m in need of a pick-me-up, I just spritz on some of the refreshing mist and I’m ready to face my next challenge! Also, it’s hard not to get some heads turning when I smell this good. ;)

3) Indulge in a little chocolate

Did you know that your body burns carbs the best on the first two days of your period? Yes it’s true! I will personally attest to feeling and looking much skinnier on the first two days of my period. Since your body is metabolising carbs so efficiently, it’s the PERFECT time to indulge in a little bit of delish chocolate. Your body deserves it, really. Go on, one little piece wont hurt.

4) Dance baby, dance!

Exercise helps to chase the blues away. And with Whisper Ultra, I get the freedom of movement without any worries! I feel, clean, dry and fresh all day long. I’m free to turn on my music in my room and dance like no body’s watching. I can break out in whatever funky moves I want without anybody judging! Hahaha. My all time feel-good track? Whitney Houston – Wanna Dance with Somebody

5) Get dressed in your favourite outfit

They say “clothes maketh a man” when it really should be “clothes maketh a WOman“. Dressing in my favourite best outfit never fails to make me happy. But if your period hits and you want to keep yourself looking perfect, Whisper Ultra keeps you fresh throughout the day. When you look good and feel comfortably dry all day, you naturally walk with your head held high. And you can be sure that in the fashion realm, confidence never goes out of style.

Everyone has different skin typesoily skin, dry skin, dehydrated skin, combination skin, sensitive skin, normal skin. These different types of skin have different needs. Just like how different occasions call for different make up looks, there is no one magic formula for getting good skin that suits all types of skin.

We all dream for beautiful, flawless skin and to achieve that we need to understand our skin type and its needs. I never knew how to really take care of my skin until I signed up with Leonard Drake.

When you first take up a Leonard Drake facial package, they do an in-depth and proper analysis of your lifestyle habits and skin condition. Leonard Drake’s face mapping is a revolutionary and thorough procedure that provides the skin therapist an objective view of the skin’s condition. The skin is divided into 14 different zones that map to different body parts and organs, similar to foot reflexology. Just by looking at the condition of your skin in a certain area, the therapist is able to tell if an underlying health condition is causing a breakout or blockage on your face.

This is me looking horrified that I have been neglecting my skin ever since I came back from New York. Lol.

After understanding the different skin types and which category your skin falls into, it’s time for the facial. Before they start anything, your therapist always explains the different skin problems your skin faces (blackheads, white heads etc) and afterwards implements a suitable facial treatment.

My skin is primarily dehydrated, which points to a lack of moisture. I was thus recommended the Advance Skin Hydrating Treatment, only available till the end of this month thanks to the Great Singapore Sale. Due to our humid weather, 90% of Singaporeans face dehydrated skin. I happen to be one of the majority. Haha.

Despite everyone having different skin types, we all go through the same facial procedure. First, a good cleanse and scrub before extracting all the gunk from my pores. The therapist then applies a mask and afterwards hydrates my skin with the special equipment. That probably doesnt sound all too articulate, but it just so happens that each and every time I go for a facial, I end up falling asleep whenever they apply a mask. Haha. It’s hard to articulate the procedure in detail when you subject yourself to such relaxing techniques. But I must say, waking up to clean and rejuvenated skin is probably the best feeling ever. And to top it all off, they groom your eye brows and throw in a neck massage before the session ends.

Going for regular facials is definitely high priority on my list on how to get good skin. With clear skin, I have the confidence to leave the house with no make up at all. But drinking plenty of water is also an integral part of maintaining good skin. Like what I’ve mentioned previously in my travel beauty tips, water is one of the most important factors in keeping your skin hydrated. So I was pleasantly surprised to hear that Leonard Drake serves Alkaline-Ion Water which helps to 1) emulsify the fatty acids in our body, 2) slow down the aging process and 3) neutralize the acidic wastes produced in our body. Changing your water can now change the way you look.

Knowing which basic make up essentials you should have in your basic make up kit is important, but these cosmetic products dont just appear out of thin air (although I wish they did so I could own more makeup).

Some of you have asked in the previous essential make up post where to buy make up to start your basic make up collection and take the next step to becoming a beauty-holic. For that, one must know where all the make up stores in Singapore are. I dont personally buy a lot of make up in Singapore, but when I do, here are the make up stores in Singapore I frequent.

Week to week, Violet and I share home foot care tips and how to DIY a pedicure. But because this is Sneaker Sunday, we naturally have to talk about sneaker care and how to take care of your sneakers.

Our sneakers go through thick and thin with us and eventually they get dirty. I’ve had this pair of sneakers since I dont know when. But you can probably tell it’s been well worn. Haha. Just check out the yellowed soles.

Even the back is pretty stained. I know, I know. I can already hear you saying, “You really should learn how to care for your sneakers!

My choice is weapon to caring for this pair of sneakers is something they call the magic sponge.

How to take care of your sneakers with the magic sponge? It’s very simple! All you need is to soak the sponge in water and clean!

After a few wipes and a little more effort put into cleaning the soles of the shoes, here’s how my previously dirty sneakers look like.

The shoes dont look so yellow and aged anymore and the dirt stains are all gone! Viola! The magic sponge takes care of the stains on your sneakers with just water.

Here’s a comparison.

They look almost as good as brand new! I’m sure I could walk probably a mile or so more before I need to starting caring for my sneakers again. Magic sponge is pretty useful for cleaning all sorts of things. Violet has a pair of decorated sneakers, I’m not sure magic sponge might work for her shoes, but she’s figured out a way to clean them!

How do you take care of your sneakers?

A beginner without any basic make up know how would probably be mind-boggled by the insane number of cosmetic choices. All that jargon doesnt serve to help make things easier too: foundation, powder, blush, fluid foundation, bronzer, concealer, mascara, lipgloss, lipstick. Who can tell the difference and pick out the basic makeup essentials that every girl should have.

I remember when I first ventured into the field of makeup. I thought, “Wow, where to start. I wish someone had made a guide on what the must-have make up products are.” You will never go wrong with the basic makeup products in your bag. With them essential make up products in my makeup bag, I’d be one step closer to becoming a beauty-holic.

So, I decided to be that person. Just for anyone who needs help starting their makeup collection, this is my list of basic make up must haves I cant live without.
