Beneath all that dark eye makeup you might see me with usually, lies a very lazy girl. I’m really quite a fuss-free person even though I’m mad about makeup and have a deep love for dark dramatic eyes. But we all have our off days, and from time to time (actually most of the time if I can get away with it. HAHA), I opt for a no makeup face.

How To/Tutorial: No Makeup Face

I recently decided to do a no makeup face (and have it photographed) while having Sunday brunch. Sundays are meant to be days where you chillax and enjoy good company without worrying too much about how you look. Yet at the same time, in the presence of company, you do want to look presentable without being overly madeup.

So here’s how-to achieve a no makeup face:

1) You want to appear like you have no makeup at all yet still maintain a flawless complexion. Concealer is thus, your best friend in this no makeup face. Apply concealer and blend thoroughly to the dark circles under the eyes with your ring finger. Also remember to conceal any blemishes or other spots.
2) Next, dust powder foundation all over your face with a big fluffy brush for a natural finish.
3) Choose a natural peachy blush for that rosy flush and sweep it over the apples of your cheeks. I used the NARS Orgasm blush because it’s has lovely golden sparkles that brighten up your complexion instantly.
4) Light pink lips are the way to go in a no makeup face. I like the e.l.f Luscious Liquid Lipstick in Baby Lips for a hint of colour and gloss. Also because the lipstick is in the form of a pen, it’s so easy to carry around!

Do you have an alternative method to achieving your no makeup face? Share it with me or even better, show me!

I’m no fashion blogger, but if my memory serves me well, a whole host of fashion shows are coming up. I am thus assuming fashion week is around the corner here in Singapore (correct me fashion bloggers if I am wrong). The shows by various companies have already started happening and I was lucky enough to be invited to attend some of these prestigious invite-only shows. The one by Bimba & Lola at ION Orchard was the most recent on my plate.

My companions for the night were the lovely Raine, Elise and a not-so-mysterious photographer responsible for these brilliant shots.

I didn’t have to lust over the lovely clothes showcased that much because I personally got to select and keep an outfit from the kind folks of Bimba & Lola. The off-white jacket with gold metal details was the first thing I picked out when I walked into the shop.

As I always say, it had my name all over it. Once I set my eyes on it, I knew I HAD to make it mine. Truly, this is what they call love at first sight. Sometimes, you don’t need to find an outfit, it just finds you. We were meant to be.

HELLO THERE! COMING TO YOU LIVE FROM THE PHILIPPINES!

I’m writing this post from my girl Sandra’s laptop because I love you all so much and know you love reading about Sneaker Sunday as much as I love writing about it. I had to do this post here this week because I got my very awesome pair of Ed Hardy pink high cut ones right here in the Philippines. Thus, being back here this week, I just had to pay tribute to them in the “motherland” because those sneakers are teh winz! Unfortunately, I won’t be showcasing them this week. You’ll have to stayed tuned to see them in the new few posts. :D

This week, Violet and I have decided to give some coordination tips on how to wear your sneakers and your flats.

I decided to cover the sneaker side of things because I’m definitely more of a sneaker girl. As a testament to my love for sneakers, I actually have more sneakers than I do pretty pumps. Oh yes, I was such a tomboy (and actually still am). Haha. The current score stands 5 sneakers to 2 pumps. Kitten heels dont count as pumps right?

For this post, I will show you some of my favourite types of sneakers and suggest ideas on how to wear them other than only pairing it with your usual jeans.

This pair of ADIDAS HIGHRISE SNEAKERS for their new Spring 2010 collection practically has my name on it. I LOVE HIGH CUT SNEAKERS! Don’t you agree they look so comfy? If I had them, I’d wear them with short shorts, a baggy off-shoulder top and layer lotsa chains over it. Definitely aiming for more of a street style with this pair of shoes. I wanna look like I could kick someone’s butt in these shoes. Hahaha.

Now this pair of BAPE GINGHAM HIGHCUT would look totally cute with either a preppy dress or pleated skirt and sweater combination. The print itself is so adorable. Think Gossip Girl: white shirt, loosely undone necktie, pleated skirt and hairband if you wish, with the above. It’s preppy with an attitude. Tres tres chic.

How cute are these SKECHERS WOMEN’S ZEPHYR shoes. I’ve got a pair similar to these from some random shoe shop in KL a while ago and I love how cute they are. They remind me a little of skater shoes and because the front is round, it always makes your feet look cute. Hee hee. I wear them with a flared denim skirt and fitted top with long billowing sleeves. I like how this pair of shoes have a little bit of feminine elegance in them yet are still spunky.

There you go boys and girls, 3 different types of sneakers I would love to own and some ideas on how you can wear them. But I’ve only covered the sneaker side of it. Violet has some ideas in her post on how you can match cute flats for all sorts of occasions, so make sure you also check that out.

Sneaker Sunday last week was very well-received and I have to thank you guys for your awesome support! If you haven’t caught onto the hype, have a look see at last week’s post to see what all the fuss is about. But don’t just sit behind your screen and look. Send me your photos! We want to see more of them in the Gallery! :D

HAPPY EARTH DAY EVERYONE!

Actually Earth Day was yesterday, 22nd April, and I must say I had a pretty good one.

I actually spent the morning at Pasir Ris Park walking through the mangroves on a boardwalk. Yes, who would have thought that our very own “pristine” little park in Pasir Ris has a mangrove. I was pretty surprised too. I mean I’ve of course heard of Sungei Buloh but never thought there was another one closer to home. We spent time with the Handicapped Welfare Association and NParks volunteers who walked with us through the Kitchen Garden and the mangroves.

With Stella (3rd Runner up) and Amira (1st Runner up)

I got a chance to flex my muscles that morning and pushed a wheelchair the entire way through in the sweltering heat while listening to the tour. The various plants of Kitchen Garden are commonly used in culinary cooking and the garden that grows them is, hence, affectionately named Kitchen Garden. The mangroves were full of various biodiversity but probably not as much as I remember seeing in Cek Jawa.

Coincidentally in line with the Earth Day theme, it’s also the time of the month where I feature a green beauty and her eco-friendly tip from the Miss Earth calendar. What better month to feature my dear and close friend Miss Earth Philippines, Sandra as she was here just last month. I had a good time showing her around and doing all sorts of girly stuff together. Also, this month is when the Miss Earth Philippines pageant comes to a close! This means Sandra will be handing over her crown to her successor.

In fact, I’m going to her Coronation in Manila tomorrow and I’ll see the crowning of the new Miss Earth Philippines 2010 first hand! Whoooohoooooooo!

So as part of her farewell routine, I will help her share her green tip featured in our green calendar.

Iron clothes twice-a-month mass to save electricity.

Instead of ironing one shirt a day, why not be economical and efficient and iron your clothes mass? ;)

If you have been following me on Twitter, I have been going on and on about my sneakers Sunday after Sunday. After a brilliant stroke of creativity, I have unofficially dubbed Sundays Sneaker Sundays. What exactly is Sneaker Sunday? It means that sneakers are a MUST wear of my outfit that very day. We wear pretty and possibly crippling shoes most days of the week, so what better day to give your feet an off day than on Sunday!

Look cute without crippling foot pain!

Sneakers are to me what pancakes are to breakfast. I CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT SNEAKERS (just like how I cannot live without pancakes too. Anyone know where you can get great pancakes?). Everyone has at least once tasted pancakes and I’m more than sure than everyone owns at least one pair of sneakers. They are comfy and a must have next to your killer pair of heels.

As for me, I’ve lived in sneakers most of my life especially back when I was dancing in University. We’d wear high cut sneakers, regular sneakers, skater shoes, Adidas sneakers or even sneaker boots. Flats were a must because dancing hip-hop in heels was best left to the celebrities. If I could nickname myself, I would most likely name myself Sneaker Girl because I’d pay for an awesome pair of sneakers in a heartbeat. If I could, I would also live in sneakers and jeans because I swear they are the ultimate comfort combination. Sneakers, skinny jeans and a fitted tank top, simple yet stylish. Just like how I’ve worn them here.

Sneaker US Master Shoes

These are my U.S Master sneakers in a dark blue/black. I can’t remember when I got them since they’ve been around for quite a while. I don’t think I’ve ever worn them to dance (or have I?). But I really like to wear them with denim jeans and skirts because they look totally preppy and are so lightweight. I cheat and never undo the laces, EVER. I always slip my foot into the shoe without untying the laces. What I also like about this pair is the thin soles. They are flexible and thus, make walking or running easy.

Because sneakers are the BEST THINGS ON EARTH, Violet LeBeaux and I have decided to pay tribute to our awesome sneaker collection. What we’ll do is post a Sneaker Sunday article on of course, Sunday! This is where we post a snapshot of our shoes (bottoms optional) or anything related to sneakers and/or flats. The best part is, we want you to join in too! I’m sure everyone owns at least ONE pair of sneakers.

What we’ll do is we’ll post a picture of our sneakers and tweet about it on our respective accounts with the hashtag #sneakersunday. This is to make searching for tweets related to Sneaker Sunday easy. You too can tweet and do the same if you have a Twitter account. To link all Sneaker Sunday posts together, we’ll post your shot on our Gallery because we want to make a collection of all the awesome sneakers that people own! Alternatively, you can send me your photos (daydweam@gmail.com) and we’ll post it on our Gallery with your blog link on it.

Get how Sneaker Sunday is run? If you’re still not sure, VioletLeBeaux shows you how it’s done on her blog, after which it’s your turn to SHOW ME YOUR SNEAKERS! ;)
