Saturday marked the first day I stepped into public as a Miss Earth Singapore finalist along with the other girls. It was also the first time I was meeting them. We were gathered for the Bare Your Sole Barefoot Walk in Pasir Ris.

We were grouped under “VIPs” gracing the event. HAHA. So privileged, but we didnt get any goodie bags. HAHAHA. =x

Last year’s MES winners Ivy, Carol, Wann Wah and Wu Ling were there too alongside us. The event was hosted by DJs from 93.8 and special guest like the cast from Fighting Spiders and Eunice Olsen turned up to show their support as well.

Eunice talking about her first-hand experience seeing the poor kids without shoes when she went to an overseas trip.
The idea of the walk was to raise funds for children in third world countries who have no shoes. For every $10 that we donated, kind Crocs would donate a pair of shoes to the kids in these under-privileged countries.
So, to simulate the pain and hardship that they go through, we all walked barefoot along the 5km route.

We were there really early and got lots of stares with our different tee-shirts and green sash of course. We waited around (cam-whoring when appropriate) and had to flag/set the pace for the non-competitive race.

We didnt finish the entire walk, because we were ushered halfway to a special area reserved specially for VIPs. Bascially we spent most of the time there just chatting within our own group and of course, taking tonnes of pictures with our own compact cameras and posing when necessary for the official MES photographer present that very sunny day.

By 11-ish we were allowed to go and I think most of us went home to crash. The next MES event will be a Environmental roadshow and fashion show at Chinatown Point and Vivo City respectively! I just spent the entire day yesterday making the mask for the fashion show using recycled materials. I think it turned out pretty well.

Babeee, you’re looking fabulous! My bets are on you for Miss Earth!
