This might be a little late since the May issue of Cleo has been out since the middle of this month.

Nevertheless, better late than never!

I’m featured twice in this issue of Cleo! Both with one-liner quotes on a specific topic/question.

First question was “What’s the first thing you would do if you ruled the world?”

The second pertaining to jealousy in a relationship.

I think the second one was a leeettle easier to answer because I could draw from real life experience! Haha.

……. is always tiring.

But I loved the way my hair looked last night. And the way I did my eyes! I was going for a more rocker chick look topped with smokey eyes.

Although I kinda did them in a rush, I think they turned out awesome! Whooohooo! And everyone commented about how my hair looked professionally done.

Although I had only 4 hours of sleep the night before, I was up and about at 6.45am.

And so were the rest of the jie meis.

I had so much fun loves!

My social calendar was packed from last Thursday onwards. And this weekend it doesnt seem to be any different.

It’s been so long since I last saw these guys and we got a chance to finally catch up over scrumptious food at Ma Maison at Central. The restaurant was quite well-hidden away from the main area, but you’d be surprised at how many people approached the restaurant asking for seats but were turned away owing to its fully booked status.

We had several entrees before the main course. And because it was a Japanese Western restaurant, the menu offered pretty interesting items like escargots, to your regular chicken wings and sausages. The style of cooking, however was different and classified more like fusion food I would say.

So anyway, I’ve never actually HAD escargots before and this time, with assurance from Wennie that they’d taste like tako, I decided to give it a go. Plus, they were garlic lemon flavoured. It’s hard to resist anything that taste of garlic and lemon.

Lo and behold, the escargots tasted super yummy! They kinda reminded me a little of sea hum, just a little crunchier. And honestly, if you werent told that it was snails you were consuming, you’d think it was seafood you were putting in your mouth.

For my main course, I had this HUGE hamburger steak that was done to absolute perfectness although I had no say in how I wanted it done. It was served without bread; only topped with an egg and some sauce they call brown sauce. I wiped every bit of the steak off my plate because it was THAT good. SLURP. So mine covered the Western part of the restaurant, while this Beef Omelette rice that the rest had took care of the Japanese side of the menu.

Boss Ming had classic spaghetti and it was quite funny when his meal was served.

The spaghetti sauce was served separately and we were quite perplexed to this new phenomenon until Wennie enlightened us. Her rationale was if they had served the sauce WITH the noodles, the spaghetti would have gone soft very quickly and not be al dente anymore. How very true.

And this is how you should eat spaghetti.

What comes after the main course?

Dessert!!

I loved the maccha azuki dessert. It was a teeny little scoop of green tea ice-cream in a pool of red bean, topped with 3 little sticky rice balls. Not too sweet yet refreshing at the same time.

On the other hand, if you prefer a classic, the brownie topped with ice-cream is a favourite.

On top of good food, a lovely ambiance, we also had a hearty chit chat session.

In the end, you get…

Thank you Nuffnang!

It’s Earth Day today!

“Earth Day, celebrated April 22, is a day designed to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth’s environment.”
from Wikipedia.com

Did you do your green part today? I did my part by taking public transport today. In fact, I do my part for the environment by taking public transport everyday! Pfffft. My body clock is still getting used to have to wake up just half an hour earlier. I get up and remain in semi-sleep mode until about 9 or 10am when snack/breakfast time comes around. With the fuel in my system, the engine starts to get going. School has just reopened and I have to sheepishly admit that I do enjoy going to school amidst all the good-looking kids who make me wonder what an anomaly is doing in their midst.

But, that’s another story to tell. Today also coincided with a birthday! A birthday the posse celebrated last weekend over seafood.

We ordered crabs and man tous. Though Im not a big fan of crabs, this was only my second conscious memory of eating crabs, I do enjoy the chilli crabs from Jumbo Seafood Restaurant. YUM!

The crab was the main highlight of dinner. We had an order of 2 chilli crabs and 15 man tous amongst other dishes like veggie, fried rice and fried squid.

Chuan looks guilty because he started on the crabs before we did!

While poor Jasper wonders when it’s going to be his turn to tuck into the tasty dish. Haha.

After dinner, we had cake. As the years go by, it seems, however, the cake gets smaller, but the meals get bigger. Definitely a good thing because the smaller the cake, the less candles you can put on it to remind yourself of your true age. HAHAHAHA!

“Where’s my cake?!”

There it is!
It’s a tiny Spiderman cake! Haha! So cute.

And the birthday boy is very excited to eat his cake. I think he can audition for the next evil villain role in a Spiderman movie.

“Aha! And now Im going to eat you up Spidey!”

“But first, Im going to karate chop you!”

Because we are old and atas people now, we adjourned to a nice place owned by Chuan’s friend to chill out where we also did a prize presentation ceremony for the birthday boy.

Prize presenters and the guest-of-honour.

Opening his present.

“Eh? Whaaaa…?” Jas looks on in disbelief.

It’s a box of mints!

Although he was pleased with his “presents” (Jas is a serial mint eater), the real present lay buried within the folds of the box.

“So this is the real present!

Look at his brilliant smile. It was hard for him not to because it was a belt from his favourite brand! It is also a belt he uses for other purposes! Hahaha!

Jon: “Eh? Is that the newest way to wear a belt?”

Lilian, being the classy one, looks on in disdain.

And what’s a gathering without a group picture?

Oei Birthday boy. Happy Birthday lah! :P

I’ve been hounded by the biggest loan sharks. They are all powerful and no one can escape them. I are so scared!

Although they dont splash paint and and decorate my walls with graffiti, I still get reminders constantly to repay them.

You’ve probably come across them too – they are the gahmen.

Yes, because my stint as a working adult has almost reached its one year mark, I have to file my taxes (I hope you did yours if you need to because the deadline has already passed) and now, repay my education loan. And here I thought the computer loan I took at the beginning of my 4 year course was a headache. Turns out it was only the least of my worries. Honestly, it isnt so much of a problem because of the stable income I get each month. It’s only frustrating because I wont be able to give my parents pocket money like I used to and I HAPPEN to like giving them the extra cash each month.

*takes out a wad of cash and starts fanning self with it*

With the new repayment scheme kicking in very soon, it only means that my pockets will be bled dry, leaving me with little savings. Not very pleasant news when I’ve got a holiday to Osaka scheduled pretty soon for the mid-year.
