Is there such a thing as too much blogging? I mean really, when you have that much that’s happening in your life, it is OKAY to write on a daily basis? Or is it better to combine posts? Maybe when the days get so busy, and you dont have time to document your daily happenings, you combine posts. But what happens when you combine posts and it gets sooooo long till you’re lazy to write about it. Haha. Im making no sense here. Whatever it is, the days have been madness ever since I came back from KL. Not that Im complaining of course, but it’s taken a toll on my health.
Anyhoo, moving on to more exciting happenings.
SPI, and a couple of other bloggers got invited, to the first part of the Youth Aids Awareness screening at Cineleisure. I had no idea what was in store for us save for the fact that it was a very important message that we should pay attention to.
I had half expected a gory, graphically detailed (yawn!) documentary on the consequences and preventive measures of having unprotected sex. But little did I expect this.
Sometimes there’s just that ONE person whom you know to be THE ONE. The one whom makes you smile all these years. Even after a long period of absence, still manages to know your fancies, your fears, your smallest quirks. Someone you want to share the rest of your life with, because without him/her, life’s just a passing film in which there are no explosions, no highlights, no laughter and no sunshine.
You’ve found him/her. And life’s just never been sweeter.
But what if, day by day, as you spend time together, you watch the person lose a little bit of him/herself right before your very eyes? What if, you watch them deteriorate, slowly inching their way to the bright light at the end of the tunnel. What if, there was no way you could stop them from falling onto this path-of-no-return.
Or so you think.
It’s a simple message. But everyone has a part to play. It’s really hard to imagine that someone you know would just be another statistic on the CDC registry. But then again, I never thought that any one of my friends would end their lives either. It may seem unbelievable, that youngsters our age would be diagnosed with an incurable disease. But with promiscuity being more prevalent nowadays (read: sex survey in undergraduates), it’s really just a hair’s breadth away. Unprotected sex is bad. Unprotected sex with multiple partners is WORSE! If you have to, USE A CONDOM! But there’s obviously no 100% guarantee that you’ll be safe see, because random genetic mutations still happen occasionally. So dont say I didnt warn you.
Next weekend, or rather this coming weekend on the 29th, there’ll be a series of exhibitions organised by the Health Promotion Board at Cineleisure again, and this time, Im one of the selected few bloggers invited to go! WAHAHAHA. Machiam celebrity leh! There’ll be a photo exhibition at the foyer that’s truly one of a kind. Because for this exhibition to truly raise awareness of the crippling disease, the official photographer went into CDC and captured pictures of the patients. Of course, anonymity is assured to each and everyone who was photographed.
But guess what! You need not be a celebrity to be enlightened! There are other Youth Aids Awareness events on-going on these dates at Cineleisure!
28 March 2008, 5pm.
30 March 2008, 2pm.
30 March 2008, 3pm.
You should go! Cause SPI, pronounced SPY, is definitely an advocate of good clean fun! That’s why we were invited to the Awareness screening!
You might even get to see the stars in the film like we did! WAH! The male lead super shuai! He’s the guy from the e-McDonalds TVC on TV now! And the female lead, a familiar face was very friendly and amicable in person.
Nuffnang-ers with the cast of 2.

With the male and female lead – Lawrence and Evelyn.

With the behind the scenes people who made it all happen!
Pssst! They’re the three at the top left!
What’s SPI you ask? We’re nothing sleazy okay. Even though we might have initially been formed as a running joke on the bus back from KL and called Social Playground Island. We have now officially been christian-ed as Nuffnang’s sub-club! Wo0o0o0ooo00t!
After the HPB Youth Awareness event, Ming met the SPI-ers and a couple of other bloggers to discuss the “official-isation” of SPI! Haha!
Discussing official business with the big boss.
And a chairperson emerges!
(some pictures leeched off James)
All hail mrchrispy!
And the vice chairperson?

Yours truly
At The Coffee Club, Ming treated the entire bunch to calamari rings, chicken wings, fish nuggets of sorts and drinks! Wo0o0o0t! Thanks a million Ming!

Of course in return we have to work for him la.
We also celebrated 3 SPI-ders birthdays!
Julian “Barney”, PinkSmurf Sher and Jarius
The perks of being a SPI. You have cake and you get to eat it.
Tomorrow I audition. For something I previously complained about. Haha!

That was quite twist in writing from funny tone to emotional and sentimental on “the one”. I know it would pain me to see my loved one in agony. Great to know that the spread on Aids prevention is going about ^_^
